Once, it used to be just HAVING A GOOD TIME WITH YOUR SWEETIE AND YOUR CLASSMATES.....
And now, it's come to.... THIS???? (Link Courtesy The DENVER POST) (http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_3767963)
Somehow, the very IDEA of this.........the art of HAVING FUN taking a BACK SEAT the OPULENCE of LUXURY and, frankly, DECADENCE........
Just SMACKS of WASTEFUL SELF-INDULGENCE!
Makes a person WONDER just WHERE today's society's PRIORITIES lie?

I was never much for Prom. When I was a kid, we ditched Prom and went to the beach.
Now, I have a 17 year old who is all excited about Prom. She has a fabulous dress, shoes to match, her boyfriend is renting a limo, and you know what? She'll still probably end up at the beach! ;)

my friends and i boycotted prom and did our own beach party thing... it was unusually cold that night so we had a bonfire :nice:
Unfortunately the boy to girl ratio at the prom was predominatly male... making it a very awkward prom :|

I thought the Hokey Pokey was what it was all about?
I actually did go to my prom. A bunch of us from the Drama Club had a group date. We had a potluck dinner at one member's house - and then went to the prom and danced until the wee hours. Our costumes were fabulous - I made mine. (I made a lot of costumes; I was quite a good seamstress back then.)
