View Full Version : Cocaine and ADD Metty Q Luss 04-24-2006, 03:36 PM Is the prohibition of cocaine the result of a plot to control and repress people with adult ADD? Discuss. CowPunk 04-24-2006, 03:53 PM We do have pharmaceuticals besides cocaine to treat them. Metty Q Luss 04-24-2006, 04:00 PM Yes, but the question as to whether cocaine's banned because it's the holy grail of ADD remedies remains. Mystlet 04-24-2006, 04:02 PM Cocaine was banned before ADD was labelled a disorder. Dr.Doom 04-24-2006, 04:08 PM almost every drug outlawed was due to racial prejudice Metty Q Luss 04-24-2006, 04:08 PM The personality type that constitutes what's known today as the disorder ADD has long been noted. It's no coincidence that the most popular legal drug (alcohol) dulls the senses, whereas drugs that stimulate mental activity (cocaine; amphetamines) and provide deep spiritual insight (opium; psychedelics) are strictly prohibited. almost every drug outlawed was due to racial prejudice Yup yup, racial discrimination definitely plays a part. CowPunk 04-24-2006, 04:09 PM Is there evidence that cocaine is effective against ADD? Metty Q Luss 04-24-2006, 04:18 PM Indeed. http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/cocaine/addhyp.htm Truth Teller 04-24-2006, 06:27 PM As one who has something realted to ADD,I can say I've never done coke and I never will. I've seen cocaine f--k up wayyyyy too many people. Stone 04-24-2006, 11:16 PM Cocaine can do terrible things to the brain. It's one of the worst drugs in my book due to this high level of brain damage. Alcohol is up there too cuz it's a poison - it's literally toxic to every cell in your body (in stark contrast to THC, psylocybin, LSD, and many others) Dr.Doom 04-24-2006, 11:28 PM thc is NOT toxic Metty Q Luss 04-25-2006, 12:58 AM ^ Yeah, but it can cause you to nuts in ways that make the side effects of cocaine use look like those associated with consuming tea and crumpets. http://www.dpselfhelp.com/ Dr.Doom 04-25-2006, 01:00 AM elaborate Corporate Avenger 04-25-2006, 05:58 AM Ritalin should be outlawed Betrade 04-25-2006, 07:17 AM ADD and ADHD are two of the most overdiagnosed conditions in America. There's lots of evidence that points to both of these new "diseases" as being nothing more than fronts to sedate children and sell drugs. I was advised at one time to put my own son on Ritalin. He was lead poisoned and had some behavioral problems for a few years. Needless to say, he was never given the drugs and is doing quite fine. Drugging our kids isn't the answer. There are RARE cases vwhere the drugs help, but almost every kid I've spoken to who has been on Ritalin and the latest and graetest, Aderal (which has already been banned in several countries due to it's toxic side effects) has told me that they hat being on the stuff. I believe that teachers and parents use these drugs in many cases just so they don't have to deal with their kids. The myth that stimulants "work backwards" on people with ADD is ingrained very deeply. Stimulants from cocaine to caffiene simply release stored energy from the body, and leave the child feeling worn out. That's how they work, and there's no "reverse" effect on anybody. It's like running out of gas. Unfortunately, millions of kids have to take the crap every day. It's no wonder when they miss a dose they may act up. Their bodies are readjusting to normal energy levels, instead of being sedated zombies. oki 04-25-2006, 07:22 AM ADD and ADHD are two of the most overdiagnosed conditions in America. Metty Q Luss 04-25-2006, 11:22 AM Ritalin should be outlawed ...and replaced with medicinal cocaine. ADD and ADHD are two of the most overdiagnosed conditions in America. There's lots of evidence that points to both of these new "diseases" as being nothing more than fronts to sedate children and sell drugs. If ADD and ADHD are "fronts to sedate children," why are ADD/ADHD kids being given stimulants instead of sedatives? 86Dude 04-25-2006, 11:37 AM almost every drug outlawed was due to racial prejudice Yeah, we have to keep the black man down, and in prison so he won't go around raping white women and stuff. Dr.Doom 04-25-2006, 11:39 AM Yeah, we have to keep the black man down, and in prison so he won't go around raping white women and stuff. Well thats the slogan they went by in those days Stone 04-25-2006, 01:16 PM thc is NOT toxic that's why i said "in stark contrast" in my post. --------- Cocaine wears out the brain, plain and simple, and it's not a good drug in the pure and natural sense. It should not be used for ADD unless the ADD person just wants to justify the destruction of their body with a medical explaination. Now cocaine's refined derivitives are useful (i.e. novacaine). CowPunk 04-25-2006, 01:19 PM Yeah, we have to keep the black man down, and in prison so he won't go around raping white women and stuff. Yep, that's what they believed at that time. RightWingZealot 04-25-2006, 01:32 PM ADD and ADHD are two of the most overdiagnosed conditions in America. More than over diagnosed it is mis-diagnosed. François Duvalier 04-25-2006, 01:36 PM Yep, that's what they believed at that time.Stereotypes with regard to blacks continue to play an important role in legislation, profiling, and incarceration. Corporate Avenger 04-26-2006, 02:22 AM ...and replaced with medicinal cocaine. If ADD and ADHD are "fronts to sedate children," why are ADD/ADHD kids being given stimulants instead of sedatives? I don't know about giving coke to kids, but I do know that there have been studies where children identified as having the drug cartel invented condition known as "ADD" have been "cured" by taking the kids of the horrible diet of Soda, candy, and artificial everything that most kids consume these days. If anything ADD should be called "shitty diet syndrome".. Corporate Avenger 04-26-2006, 02:23 AM Stereotypes with regard to blacks continue to play an important role in legislation, profiling, and incarceration. Correct, see "Rockefeller drug laws" for proof of this.. Betrade 04-26-2006, 08:14 AM ...and replaced with medicinal cocaine. If ADD and ADHD are "fronts to sedate children," why are ADD/ADHD kids being given stimulants instead of sedatives? Because stimulants release stored energy, resulting in the child running out of energy before he or she naturally would. They burn off the "excess". That's why people feel so crappy and down after doing coke and other stimulants. Once they wear off, there's a big let down, so people crave more to get themselves pumped up again. They want that rush of energy, and that's why many people get a habit. RightWingZealot 04-26-2006, 02:49 PM I do know that there have been studies where children identified as having the drug cartel invented condition known as "ADD" have been "cured" by taking the kids of the horrible diet of Soda, candy, and artificial everything that most kids consume these days. Diet does affect add symptoms, but studies suggesting add can be treated entirely with diet are typically less than scientific. Because stimulants release stored energy, resulting in the child running out of energy before he or she naturally would. They burn off the "excess". That has nothing to do with the reasons for giving kids stimulants to treat ADD. Your thinking does not make a bit of sense. They give kids the meds in the morning before school so they effects of the medication are in full swing during school hours. They dont come 'down' until the evening, and they are not wiped out like you suggest. The only time they can really feel wiped out is if they cut the med completely. A couple days after abruptly stopping medication you can get the wiped out feeling which is not pleasant, but I doubt it is any comparison to the cocain ups/downs. Hyperactivity in add kids is a side effect of the ADD itself. In addition to trouble focusing they have difficulty with impulse control. The medication stimulates their brain activity in regions of the brain that assist with concentration as well as impulse control.. So even though they are not really being sedated, they seem more calm because they have an easier time controlling themselves. Its the Euphoria people chase hadit 04-26-2006, 04:01 PM Kids should not be forced to "sit down and shut up" for hours every day just to make it easier for a disinterested adult to force-feed them current educational fads. Viva la home-schooling! RightWingZealot 04-26-2006, 04:26 PM Kids should not be forced to "sit down and shut up" for hours every day just to make it easier for a disinterested adult to force-feed them current educational fads. I am all for homeschooling, but the above post was a rather unfair generalization. Not all teachers are 'disinterested', and the issue in not really to get kids to "sit down and shut up". It is first of all to get the kid to be able to focus and learn the material he/she needs to learn, and second of all not to be a distraction to other kids. That does not equate to "sit down and shut up". Truth Teller 04-26-2006, 07:29 PM Ritalin should be outlawed I agree. As fully developed adults The Everly Brothers were as addicted to Ritalin as any junkie has ever been addicted to heroin and for schools to give a drug that strong to children [often without the parents even knowing about it ,at least back in the 1960s]is awful because children are not mini-adults,a drug that strong can break a child's developing body quicker than anything else. RightWingZealot 04-26-2006, 07:36 PM When did schools begin writing ritalin prescriptions? And are you suggesting that every medication on the market with the potential for abuse should be made illegal? and to compare ritalin addiction to heroin addiction is just dumb. I could hear the support group meeting now.. " *sob* First I started stealing from my parents.. Then I sucked a guy off for ritalin money! *sob* im so ashamed!" |
