I miss old school DA. Yeah, yeah, things gotta change, time moves on and all that bullshit - I get it, I understand it, but it doesnt make me miss the old DA any less, or force me to like the very different place DA has become in recent times.
We took everyone at face value, quite simply, you were who you said you were. There was none of this "I dont believe you are X person, you must be Y person" and so on. We never really second guessed anyone. I thought that if I was telling the truth, everyone must be telling the truth.
The only multiple signups we seemed to have were Eric, and every one of those was funny. None were to "get back" at DA for bans, or to harass other members...it was all in good fun.
We had Justin, Caridad, Jadatrack, DotCom, Bonnie, Wedge, Lateralis, PissyPrincess and so on - we even had us some good old fashioned Fist.
When we posted things about ourselves it wasnt a case of "Who will find this, will someone use this as ammo, am I making myself a target for a weirdo" and all that. It was good, clean, forging friendships (of sorts) internet times.
The internet drama was always just that - INTERNET drama, no personal details were brought up, nothing that could get anyone banned, just hissy fits and accusations.
I get the internet is a big place, I get that DA is attractive to all sorts, its just sad that even the old time members (at least some of them that I certainly know of) feel like theres not much of a place for them on here anymore. Or at least their place is lost amoungst all the weirdos, creeps and jerks, that will always be trolling the net.
This isnt a whiney, "Im leaving" post, because its not, and Im not...I just wanted to put it down somewhere. Maybe Im just feeling a bit nostalgic for the "old days".
