you mean to the forced acceptance of the above mentioned? i can understand spending time talking about the contributions of different ethnicities found in american history, but homosexuality is a lifestyle..a choice. should we start mandating the teaching of the contributions of skateboarders, stamp collectors, people that like 80s music, tupper ware party organizers etc.? all these groups of people are a part of a distinct sub-culture in america, and all are part of a minority of the population, just as homosexuals are. what a waste of time. i'd like to think level heads will prevail, and the bill will get crapped on, but it is california...there's something in the water there.

Besides, if you decided to not teach contributions of gay people through history you might as well just not teach history. Thanks to the fact the ancient world didn't make distinctions, most of history is full of bisexuals and homosexuals.

I just feel that a lot of the rights that I as a minority young woman has, are rights that conservatives felt I shouldnt have, and that liberals felt were important. (Because I'm a human being!)

I think this idea is stupid as hell. I think kids should be taught what history is important, and if the history-maker happens to be black, great. And if he happens to be Buddhist, great. And if he happens to be gay, great. And if he happens to be a straight old Christian white man, great.

I also think that the folks who use an event like this to justify their hatred/disapproval/whatever of gays in general are stupid as hell. Some individuals who are militant about forcing others to accept their gayness are involved in this.
