That is in reference to Dave Chapelle's Block Party which I saw last Sunday, but life kind of feels like a block party recently. Its been busy, hectic (in that good way, but tiring none the less) and tons of people...that’s a block party, right?

Wednesday night I met Lex (or transit authority as Ira has cleverly dubbed her) at The Cat and Fiddle in Hollywood. It’s a pretty cool English pub that has a nice outdoor courtyard/seating. It can be pretty bumping at night during the summer, but it was pretty dead tonight. I had only been there for lunch before, so it was nice checking out dinner and the night time scene. Similarly, there’s the pig and whistle on Hollywood Blvd. I am not sure what the English fascination is with animals and whistles.

Dinner and drinks were good. The food at the fiddle isn’t that great, but the atmosphere and drinks were. And the company was great. Its fun being in a bar in Hollywood, but talking about science, politics, and random things, I love that and don’t’ get it nearly enough. She had a final the next day and was exhausted, so we cut it a bit earlier than I’d have liked, but ultimately, I had a great time.

March is a great time for a basketball fan. Height of the NBA season and the NCAA tournament. Holy shit has this been a great tournament. So many close games, OT games, comeback victories. Thursday I got together with a few people at my place (shout out to Corey for getting all the delicious grub) and we watched UCLA and Gonzaga. What an ugly ****ing game. It was a great moment watching that run…they got lucky and they stole one. I can’t believe Morrison started crying before the game was over. If he watched LSUs game just a few minute earlier, he’d have seen them hit a 3 with .8 seconds left for the win. UCLA to the elite eight!

Corey and I lost our minds once we got the turnover with like 40 seconds to go. Then the steal by Farmar and the loose ball dive…it was amazing. I’ve not been that excited since Game 7 of the WCF in 2000…

Friday was pretty good. I ended up working later than I wanted (what else is new) and then went out with Corey and Ira to Gabby’s. Its this good Lebanese place in Culver City that has great chicken and cheap hookah. We almost burned the place down when our pita basket caught on fire and Ira decided to blow the flames out, sending embers flying around…but I wasn’t about to pour my beer on it to put it out, so it probably was a good move. After dinner we got some drinks, watched bad TV, and then I ended up crashing around 3:30.

Saturday I woke up to the sound of screaming children. I hate living next to kids. I woke up, dicked around a while and decided I needed to clean my living room, closet and kitchen. I hoped to do more than I accomplished, but it was good none the less. I watched UCLA beatup Memphis (final four baby) and then headed over to Staples for a Kings game. Avidan’s dad hooked up the luxury box and the open bar. The game was pretty good, the company was awesome, and the drinks were, well, free. After the game we went back to Avidans, got some pizza from this bomb ass place and then smoked a bunch and hung out. I ended up going over after I left his place at 1:30, didn’t get home until like 4AM.

Nate and I rolled deep Sunday, went to Duke’s of Malibu for brunch. It wasn’t really rolling deep, cause Tiffany hooked it up. No waiting in the hour line, not paying for a think, and eating our fill. Good times. I then helped my sister with her computer, went to Tess’s, and hung out with Nate and Tasha. We save Dave Chapelle’s Block Party at the Howard Hughes Center, which has an amazing theater...you can buy booze! Come on.

Overall, life is pretty good. Working hard. Playing hard. Meeting lots of people. Its just exciting, an element that had been missing for a long time. Works been so so, it has its ups and downs and the hours continue to be long. Friends are pretty good. Love, mostly non existent, but glimmers of hope...we'll see...
