I stole this from a good friend of mine. If he ever discovers this journal, I'm sure he won't mind, as I agree with him 100%.

Animal Testing

It looks Ghastly. I know.

How many of you know someone who is Diabetic? Without animal testing- those people would be *dead*. Not a ****ing chance. And it's a slow, painful, cutting off different parts of their body two inches at a time kind of death.

How many of you know someone who has had a heart bypass? Without animal testing? They would be Dead. Been on a heart-lung machine? Dead.

How about a someone who has survived breast cancer?
Dead without chemo and radiation. And guess what they had to do to make it safe for people? You guessed it. Animal testing.

And Grandma's artificial hip, or your favorite Basketball player's knee replacement? Animal testing.

Hey- you- you aren't crippled from polio. Or dead from small pox. Or the measels. Or the Mumps. Guess what: derived from animal testing.

HIV- AIDS? Very similar to SIV- as in, we think HIV mutated FROM SIV. So guess where all those protease inhibitor coctails and Anti-retrovirals are tested? You got it. Animals.

Animal testing is why most of us aren't scarred from disease and why we live as long as we do. Anyone who says otherwise is naive.

Are you Naive?

Sure- I can play with your emotions by posting *really old* pictures of animals who have undergone animal testing. Some of is yes- difficult to look at. That kitty with the electrodes in the brain? Yeah. ****ing creepy. But what were they testing? Brain cancer? Surgical techniques? I can assure you it wasn't for ****ing shits and giggles. No one LIKES doing that shit. Maybe they were mapping different portions of the brain to study Parkinson's Disease. Maybe We'll get a Family Ties reunion show after all.

But really? Next time you talk to your grandma, or someone who needs to give themselves insulin, or someone is old enough to have actually HAD polio- just think: That could have been you. And they wouldn't BE here without animal testing.

Oh- and enjoy that steak / omelette / chicken / cheese / leather shoe / coach handbag. They all come FROM animals. So, upon reflection, that is a less morally defensible situation. You aren't using them to produce life-saving materials or quality-of-life enhancing drugs. No. You are using them to WEAR. Oh- I simply MUST have that Prada bag... And that Bacon you ate this morning? Yeah. The hog slaughter industry isn't pretty. I don't know if you know where all that tasty tasty bacon comes from, but they don't ****ing pull it off a tree.

So- my message to all of you.

Sit down, and STFU.

That's "Shut The **** UP"

Seriously.

Just a note: I love meat, wear leather, and would really like to know that the SHIT I PUT IN MY EYE has been tested to make sure it won't make me mother****ing BLIND.

Grow the **** up. Life isn't pretty. Life isn't easy. Life isn't nice. And I'm not selling anything.

Our ****ing CULTURE is designed to so distantly remove us from the harsh realities of everyday existance (especially those of us with enough time to **** around on the internet) that most of you (and I say *you*) have no ****ing idea the misery and suffering that has to happen to make your ****ing life care-free and soft and fuzzy.

Life is more that your mochachino in the morning and your goddamn BMW and your $400 purses and your ****ing X-BOX. Not that I am morally opposed to such things. I'm just morally opposed to hypocrisy.

I know know miserable the goddamn world is. Or at least- I have a fairly decent idea. And I hope never to have to actually experience it. I am one of the privileged few. As are you.

Telling the people who MAKE our world privileged by doing the dirty work, the ghoulish things that mean that WE don't HAVE to- telling them to stop doing these indelicate and distastfull things THAT DIRECTLY BENEFIT Us- is asinine. And Naive. And foolish. Grow the **** up. Go work in a meat packing house for a month. Or on a farm. Or in a morgue.

Wah ****ing WAH!

I read the first few lines and came to the conculsion that that's bull shit. It's untrue. There are alternatives to animal testing. Would you like to read the paper I wrote? :)
