When buying a used car?

The car that I am looking at is a 99 Mustang Cobra, and I am wondering what things that I should be looking for in this car that most people would not now about to ask.

Also what is a good place to look for used cars, I have checked Ebaymotors, but would like to look for other options.

I used autotrader as well as a bunch of free car mags around the bay area... stuff like "Diablo Dealer." If you're buying a 99 Cobra, you're going to be looking for different things than if you're buying an older car. I'd recommend talking to some owners of that generation Mustang to see what tends to break easily. I could tell you everything to look out for in a Fox bodied mustang, but all models of cars will have their weak spots.

As a general rule, look at the condition the owner has kept it in. If the interior is trashed, chances are that's how they treat their engine too.

General ways to tell how hard it's been beaten are to check out tire wear, listen to see if there's any noises that the unibody makes when driving, check all the lines of the car to see if they match up.

Also, you can run a carfax which will tell you the history of the car.

I think another major thing (though 0obvious) is look at the mileage. Don't go for a car with mucho miles just cause of a large price break...
