WASHINGTON - An American who was among four Christian activists kidnapped last year in Iraq has been killed, a State Department spokesman said.

The FBI verified that a body found in Iraq Friday morning was that of Tom Fox, 54, spokesman Noel Clay said. He said he had no information on the other three hostages.

Clay said additional forensics will be done in the United States. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is investigating, he said.

I feel bad every time a civiliian gets killed over there, or anyone for that matter.

But, for the life of me, I can't believe that people are so idealistic about peace to the point where they go into a war zone and get themselves killed.

Nick Berg was trying to make money, and walked into the wrong crowd. This current guy was on a peace mission of some kind. I don't think either had any clue as to who they were dealing with.

The radicals in Iraq aren't the type of people who can be negotiated with. They're completely blinded by their religion, and believe that killing Westerners is their God given duty. I think that they should be left to the professionals to deal with, and civillians should stay out of that zone until it's safe.

I'm just relieved the torture, and murder of this unarmed civilian in no way tarnished the image of islam, like those horrid nasty cartoons did. :|
