No more poker nights at my house. I live in a pretty strict condo complex, the HOA rules with an iron fist. A lot of the rules are retarded, but what can you do? We've been playing poker at my place every week for about 9 months and I've received a few complaints.

Complaint: Music was too loud
Solution: Bought a small cd player that sits on the counter next to the playing area, bass isn't loud enough to go through the walls

Complaint: People being too loud on my balcony while smoking
Solution: Stop being disrespectful *******s and shut the **** up when you're out there

No? You can't do that? Then get your ****in ass out to the street to smoke, you lost your balcony privledges.

Complaint: Loud people out front leaving beer bottles and cigarette butts everywhere.
Solution: No more poker at my house. Thanks, *******s.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people that they can't be just a little bit quiet and respectful of other people's property? When I was younger, I was guilty of that crap too, but guess what, I was an idiot when I was younger. Grow the **** up and stop being children.

Why are "don't be loud" and "don't litter" such a hard requests to follow. Jesus.

Most people don't care if they don't have to live there and deal with that stuff. I have friends like that. Granted I have a psycho living underneath me, but I've mentioned to my friends to be quiet. Some listen, some don't.

Yeah, I'm just tired of people that don't realize they're children.

:jes: Well my son, Im glad you asked. The answer to your question lies within. Its not your friends that are the problem, it is you my son. YOU are the one who needs to change. Quit being such a bitch and go take out your landlord and anyone else in the complex who has a problem with your parties. You must burn your whole apartment building down my son. Lifes too short man. Get yer party on. It is my will.

Much love,
JC :jes:

:p

I wouldn't give a shit if I didn't own the property, but I do, so I hafta play by the rules. I've told my friends this many times, they know the importance of the situation, but it's too hard to keep a level head after 3 beers apparently.

I still don't get how one can OWN a condo
And what's an HOA?

igofast
03-10-2006, 07:54 PM
Well, you buy it and then you own it.

HOA is homeowners association. It's pretty much a group of (stuck up, usually old) people that make rules that everyone in the building/neighborhood have to adhere to or be penalized in some way. They also handle all the finances, like hiring landscapers, trashe services, electric bills, etc.

I know what you mean Jed. I am the same way. Dont get me wrong, I get crazy and have fun when Im drunk but not if there are extenuating circumstances ei bitchy neighbors. I hate when people cant respect the rules of you house.

This Sunday is gunna suck. There will probably be an influx of around 300 people at my house, coming and going. We are prepared this year tho. The upstairs is going to be locked- we are getting a porta potty for outside – tarps are going on the floors - covering the couches in grama wrap.

Why do we have to treat people like cattle? God I ****ing hate people.

:p Not quite. I have to deal with any plumbing/structural issues, but since the building is only about 8 years old, I won't have to worry about anything like that.

Matt - there's a building full of condos. Each condo is sold to a different person. Someone buys a condo, they own it. It's really not a difficult concept. If you can live in something, you can own it.

Well it's not often that people deuce at parties, so I'm guessing it will be used mostly for the numba one. It's a smart move. When you've got hundreds of people in your house, you don't want them in your bathroom.

I feel ya ryan, i've dealt with those kinds of parties. If you don't prepare correctly, it can wreack havoc on your home.

Something's not jiving here then...As far as I know...if you're in one building divided up then you're in an apartment ergo you rent it.

That just doesn't make sense to me :eek7:
A condo is a house that is sometimes built directly attached to another house or houses(read: clusterhomes) that one RENTS.
An apartment is in a larger building that consists of multiple floors and units that one RENTS
A house is a unit on it's own piece of property that one can buy or rent.

The only way one can buy a condo is if you're the landlord that's going to be subletting :eek7: Same with apartments.

Or so I was taught

Here:
A condominium is a form of home ownership in which individual units of a larger complex are sold, not rented. These units may be renovated apartments, townhouses or even commercial warehouses. Contrary to popular belief, the word 'condominium' does not apply to the type of unit itself, but the legal ownership arrangement. Any multi-unit structure can 'go condominium', meaning occupants must either vacate the premises or purchase their apartments outright.

Those who purchase units in a condominium technically own everything from their walls inward. All of the individual homeowners have shared rights to most common areas, such as the elevators, hallways, pools and club houses. Maintenance of these areas becomes the responsibility of a condominium association. Every owner owns a share of interest in the condominium association, plus an obligation to pay monthly dues or special assessment fees for larger maintenance problems.

I'm thinking Gibson had been confusing condo with co-op, though the latter might be a foreign concept to him as well.

I had told you this before :p You didn't understand how I had an apartment with two floors. It's simple...I rent this place. It's not mine, therefore apartment.

Jed owns his apartment, therefore it's a condo.

dude here in holland all houses are attached to eachother. its perfectly normal to buy an appartment, which is part of a building. the owners together share the responcibility of the intire buidling.
