ENCINO, Calif. -- A three-story apartment complex is burning Friday morning after an explosion was reported.

The building is located on the 5300 block of Newcastle Avenue in Encino. Sixteen fire engines have been requested at the scene according to Bob Collis, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Fire Department. At least 80 firefighters are on the scene.

There are unconfirmed reports of one person suffering third-degree burns as a result of this incident.


Ada Fallick, who lives in the neighborhood, said she heard an explosion before noticing the fire. She said she initially thought the noise was connected to an earthquake.

That's the first thing that came to my mind too. Same way when I saw low flying planes heading towards our nuclear powerplant on 4/20 the first thing I did was hope that I was overreacting.

Damn terrorists have us living in fear.

On the way to work THIS MORNING I was listening to NPR and they said that the FBI has warned CA the they got reason to believe that terrorist will soon strike LA or SF by blowing up appartment buildings!

On two other boards I read that a bomb has gone off in Boston JUST now too!
