An ESPECIALLY *SAD* passing for yours truly, being a designer now for HANNA-BARBERA, LOONEY TUNES, The CARTOON NETWORK, and all...

For in addition to his famed role of BARNEY FIFE in "The ANDY GRIFFITH Show"...(Link Courtesy CANADA NEWS) (http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=1b609b21-987d-46fe-a892-3d60141578eb&k=38207)

He was also QUITE highly regarded as a master thespian in the 'toon community, having played the lead in "The INCREDIBLE MISTER LIMPET" (Animation directed by FRIZ FRELENG), as well as various & sundry guest appearances on such fare as "SCOOBY-DOO" and "JOHNNY BRAVO" (The latter series' 2001-era episode was his 'toon swan song..)

5 minutes of silence I observe in his memory....

He SHALL be MISSED!:(

Don Knotts was truly a legend. Playing Barney Fife, he probably made one of, if not THE, most memorable TV personality ever. Every episode of Andy Griffith he was in, was a classic episode. He was really that good. As Badnews mentioned, he was in the movie, The Incredible Mr. Limpett, but another really good one, was The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

Along with Seinfeld, Andy Griffith is the only TV show I never get tired of watching the reruns. Now, they are that much more special.

AND, I change back to an Avatar I used to use all the time, in the great Barney Fife's memory!

Indeed it WAS, as well, effendi.....

Though me being the BIG SCREEN CINEMA MAVEN that I am to-day (Since the Late 1970's, mind you), I'd fancy seeing it on the Silver Screen THIS time...as opposed to the old Philco black-and-white NBC SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES format...:P

AND, I change back to an Avatar I used to use all the time, in the great Barney Fife's memory!

And may you keep it for as long as the Earth shall last!:nice:

He was great .

His last performance [that I know of anyway ]was in one of my favorite films Pleasantville [the film that shows why there has to be a counter culture].

He was the total opposite of Barney Fifie, the real-life Don Knotts was well-read,highly intelligent, sensitive to others,self-confident and a ladies man.

Andy Griffith said today he's lost the best friend he ever had, many of us who never met him feel the same way.

R.I. P. Don.

Yes, I *DO* believe that THAT was his Silever Screen swan song, yes??

REESE WITHERSPOON's gorgeous gams & saddle shoes notwithstanding, "PLEASANTVILLE" did indeed offer a FINE performance turned in by The Much Regretted Mr. KNOTTS!:nice:
