Never even saw a controversy like this when they had that NERD TIMOTHY DALTON in the famed role! (Link Courtesy The BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION) (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4738536.stm):eek3:

But there seems to be one voice of dissent rising amidst the tumult of protests...from no less than a WORLD - RENOWNED thespian! (Link Courtesy The BRITISH BROADCASTING COROPRATION) (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4735000.stm)

Well, remember this....as SAMUEL GOLDWYN once said: There is no such thing as "bad publicity"....:hmm:

Coming from one of the worst Draculas ever, as well as one of most boring Bond villains, I don't much value Mr. Lee's opinion in the matter.

Having read all of the Bond novels, I don't think Brosnan himself came closer to the literary 007, but his entrance into the role coincided with the producer's much-publicized intentions to take the writing closer to Fleming's vision and style; this being very much needed after the Roger Moore years degraded the franchise into self-parody. Dalton did a decent job...a great job compared to the old queen Moore...and the writing had begun its turn from the needlessly comical. Also, Dalton was able to convey the literary Bond's self-delighting streak of cruelty, which the politically correct Brosnan never could pull off. Still, the original film Bond (there was a TV Bond first) remains the ideal which has yet to be equaled, or even closely approximated.

And as I've said in another thread, Daniel Craig would be better suited to portray a Russian villain.
