I'm seriously cutting back on smoking... I decided today, I'm going to quit soon.... I'm going to wean myself off of them.

That won’t work, buddy. There is no such thing as "weaning" yourself off cigarettes . You just have to take a stand and ****ing quit. I commend you for you efforts, but if you think that you can slowly and comfortably get off of them you are just deluding yourself. The only way to do it is to just make up your mind and do it. Stop all together!

Sorry for the tough love -

Sincerely,
Dr. Phil

I hear you bro. ... I can do it. :nice:

Today's rule: no cig within two hours of another. Averaging 3 hours between cigs (and this sucks bad enough :) ) .. my chest is tight and my ears are popping right now .... but **** them little white sticks .... I'm the ****ing man, not them. :) last smoke was at 8:30 ... the next one will be the last one for the night.

Tomorow will be three hours minimum between cigs. (I better warn my coworkers, huh? :) )

I may never fully quit ... but I will get down to no more then two cigs a day. I will not have those ****ing white sticks bossing me around.... I hope to be that ******* that can smoke while drinking and not smoke any other time.... I believe I can be that *******. :)

I may never fully quit

:slap: No defeatist attitude allowed!

You WILL quit. You WILL NOT miss it once it's out of your life. As long as they have a foot in the door in your life, they will influence your life.

Great approach, Alan, but he WILL still want one from time to time. I think about having a smoke all the time, especially when im drinking. It does get easier to deal with the cravings tho. I will probably get a craving once every couple of days and its for a quick second. I know I will never smoke again and I just keep it simple stupid. That is how you have to look at it. I___will___not___smoke. Thats it.

:nice: .... man this is going to suck. I've never smoked in my house so it's a little easier .... but I'm catching myself quite often ... going for the door to smoke .... and having to say .. "oh no you don't, get the **** away from the door". ... and this is just the first day of this shit. ... oh well, **** it. I can do it. those little white sticks are bitches.

Would you like to put 100 bucks on it? I have a bet going with Draven and this other guy. That is a great motivation. Who the hell wants to lose 100 bucks to me? :p

You pay me $100 if I do quit ..... I pay you $100 if I don't? ... when would we settle up.... its easy for me ... if I light-up I pay you .... but how far down the road would it be determined that I quit? :) .... if I'm going to quit I may as well make some money off it ... other then the cost of the cigs (which prior to yesterday was damn near what I pay for my motorcycle! ... damn, I could buy another bike with the money I save from quiting ... man, that's some shit, aint it?!!!!)

Saving all that money is the tits, but your health is whats most important. I cannot even begin to tell you how much better you will feel when youre done witht those.

And here is how it works. First one to smoke pays up. Simple as that. We can use paypal. :nice: I have quite the advantage on you, I know. But it is a great incentive dude. I am extremely competitive and I had to use that to quit these things.

no deal! ... I saw your other thread ... I plan to be done with cigs soon. But I will toke on a cigar from time-to-time (no more then one per week... and probably more like one per month). I plan to enjoy one w/ some J. Beam on occation ... everyone needs a vice :)

I'm looking foward to the health. Thinking I may try to find a softball team that'll take me :) some comunity mens league or something (they exist, right)

The "nic-fits".... lol I'm turning them into a game. I taught myself to like them... kinda like a ****ed up high or something lol ... it's pretty sweet.

The hardest part right now is the routine... its all different now. I'm so used to going outside for a smoke. .... ah-ha ... you know what.... everytime I think about going outside for a smoke I'm doing 20 push-ups.... that ought to knock that shit off real quick :)

Dude, how old are you and how many times have you tried to quit? Look at all the games and excuses you are already making. You are doing the typical evasive maneuvers to avoid facing the fact that you have to quit and quitting means NO MORE SMOKING! You are already making up rules and bullshitting yourself. Sorry, but it doesnt sound like youre ready. You just have to decide man. :hmm:

I mean come on dude. A smoker like you, stopping for a while, having a cigar, and then not wanting to have a cigarette? Dont be naïve.

Nope ... not bullshitting. You smoke weed, right .. that's smoking dude. A cigar a week (at most once a week) is not going to **** my lungs up. Life is a game to me... I'm not bullshitting, that's just how I play it. (the push-up thing is good .... be cause I'm really concerend about gaining weight ... I'd rather do 20 push-ups then 1 16oz curl, or lighting up a blunt (which I can't do anyways.... can't smoke weed)... or what ever else someone might replace the habbit with.

oh ... I'm 30. once before, when I was 20.

92Notch
02-22-2006, 10:53 PM
oh ... I should add ... I do not plan to smoke cigars any more then I ever have... it's not going to replace smoking cigs.... I'm just reserving the right to smoke a cigar with a good drink after a hard day's work (on occation). :nice:

Im not saying you are going to replace the amount of nicotine from cigarettes with cigars. Im saying, as a smoker, you are just putting yourself at risk to start up again. Those thing have a tighter grip on you than you care to admit. You have to come to terms with that. Im sorry, but I cant make any games when it comes to something as serious as smoking. For all I know, I could still develop lung cancer or emphysema later in life. :hmm:

I hear you .... and I'm kinda just babbling.... having a nic-fit and all ... I'm not doing any push-ups ... I'm lazy. I'm just not going to go out and smoke tonight. its that simple. :)

Thanks again dude. tis good reading your posts.

Good to hear. You can do it dude. Once you make it past 3 months it aint shit. You will feel so ****ing good its crazy. Then you will get to the point (where me and Draven are) of hating the ****ing things. When I walk into a bar now I get a little sick with the smell. I hate smelling it on my cloths. You will notice how you cloths from the night before will stink up your whole room! I ****ing hate the smell now.

:nice: You should celebrate! ..... and thanks again for your posts in here :nice: .... I can't ****ing wait to be a quiter :) ... I didn't smoke my night time cigerette last night.... just didn't feel like it. I did smoke my morning one this morning and it did not make me feel good ... prolly because I know how harmfull it is to me.

You know what really did me in ... I had to take the stairs on Monday .... up nine flights ... I was winded as hell when I got to the top .... **** these little white sticks ... I like myself too much to ****ing let them little bastards get the best of me. This is between me and them, and I'm the bigger, tougher man. :)

dude, you should celebrate your ass off... you beat those tuff little bastards... you are the ****ing man. A year from this sat. (2/25/06) I will be having the same celebration. :nice:

well, I did not smoke today. .... I'm glad I did not have to interact with a bunch of people... I'm getting pissed off easy, I know I would not hesitate to bitch slap some mother****er over something silly today..... went bike riding, worked around the house, and made a quick run to Homedepot for some special nails (used the self check-out... did not have to talk to anyone). Hopefully it gets a little better soon, I feel sorry for my coworkers if it doesn't (I am not going to smoke. period.) :)

Didn't smoke today either. :) ... been laying carpet in my basement all day (by myself) ... it's kept me plenty busy :nice: I keep thinking about smoking … I don’t want a cigarette, not in the slightest way … but it was such a routine that I just keep thinking about going outside to smoke … I even do go outside and sit there (not smoking) for a few minutes. … you should quit minni! The hardest part so far is not killing someone :) … yesterday I was craving a cig a little bit …. but not much … the “weaning” helped, I’m sure of it. :nice:

Just think of your health, it may not feel like it, but the cigs are killing you … they were killing me. I really enjoyed smoking too!!!! … but I enjoy living life more, I’ll find a less-harmful vise :)

Thanks Bro!

I keep thinking about the cigs, since they were a part of my life and rythm for so long ... I figure its normal ... then I picture myself smoking, and no longer want the cig. I'd rather be healthy :) ... the first three days were the hardest ... but the key is wanting to quit IMO. that's why it did not work when I tried that one time before ... I did not want to quit.
