Now seeing how this wouldn't be an out of place subject...(cough) I am going to ask you what you would do if the undead had finally taken over. I will also tell you my ideas. First lets explain how it started in this scenario, the facts I present will be the guidelines to you survival method. This is how it would start off. First off, all contact with California is lost and the surrounding states have sent out horrible reports of people being attacked by the living dead. Furthermore the people later reanimate and join the undead scourge. You being the parinoid and in the case correct person have means of transportation and survival gear. The queston still stands what would you do.

My plan of action.

1. I would first loot a local store, (they're gonna have bigger issues soon anyway). After grabing the "proper" items i would return home and back.

2. I would then head for the local bus barn and procure a bus. This would allow for others such as familly and friends, not to mention hitchhikers a ride.

3. After the group is safely back on the bus we would head for a local gun store. The weapon i would chose would balance accuracy and distance. What is the need for rapid fire when the only way to kill a zombie is a headshot.

4. Armed, supplied, and in the company of the ones i trust. I would then head south for the gulf of Mexico. I would take the back roads, this may seem unessecarry but consider that everyone is fleeing the zombies. Highways would be PACKED.

5. Now say we ran into some zombies. The bus would be a exelent fortitude to fire from. We'ed aim for the head to minimize ammo used. If we run into a larger amount of zombies we could just drive through them. I trust a bus's inertia over a zombies.:nice:

6. Upon arriving at the coast I would procure a boat and a driver,(at gunpoint if nessacery it would save his life and i would allow him to bring his familly.)

7. We would then set out for Jamaica. The Island is surrounded by water and still not to far from land.(Zombies can't swim they just walk along the bottom and the currents of the gulf would sweep them along and end thier existance.) There useing a radio one of you should of packed we would listen as the battle of the living versus the undead unfolded.

8. Eventually the battle would end. Assuming the undead won we would live on the island planting crops and expanding to other islands. During winter we would send out scavenging missions(zombies freeze during cold winters)

9. Then every five years we would send a scouting team to scout the mainlands. If they did not return on time we would assume the died and the undead are still at large. If they did return saying that the undead were gone( they have to rot eventually:nice: ) we would establish a settlement and slowly retake the earth.

10. Once we were firmly on land we would start hunting what little of the undead force remaind. Human win again:p

Harness a few as draft animals?

Seriously, you're taking for granted the movie method of a shot to the head. In "reality," that may not do the trick, leaving only headless zombies clawing about blindly.

There is no substitute for the cleansing power of fire.

Actually shooting zombies in the head is the number one way to stop them on the side of fire. But seriously how many people have flamethrowers or moltov coctails with them. Shooting the brain rocks because even zombies are dependant on them.

Then I bow to your expertise.

But keep an eye out for severed limbs.

Hey man it's not like i think this is gonna happen or anything. Its just everything that lives and is semi-intelegent needs the brain.

The brain stem is enough to govern instinctual behavior, and separated appendages need only a charge to function.

Carry a few aerosol cans and a sparker lighter.

That may be true, but one you would need to get some type of flammable material on them like gas, ant two you would need to get close to them.

How about just waiting till they all gather for a Re-Elect Bush fundraiser, then call in a napalm strike?

That'll do the trick. Once again George Bush saves the day.

Neutral Debator,

Have you considered the possibility that the infection STARTS on the islands and then spreads to the mainland ... you and your family would be charging headlong to ground zero ... not likely to be a good thing.

Day 1. I'd gather essential and head for higher ground, whether that be a tall building, or even a large hill with a house on top etc. I'd then secure the structure and start hording supplies from the area.

Morning Day 2: Secure an escape route. Stay unnoticed, quiet, waiting indefinitely for winter so that the laws of physics ultimately undo the undead.

how would winter weather affect the undead?

Freeze Dried Flesh ...

Instant Zombie, just add water.

The tissues would contract under the cold making the zombies immobile without the presence of water. What water was left in the tissues if any would freeze. The unseen force moving the dead would then require more energy to do it's task but from a pure supernatural perspective anything is possible so the point is moot anyway suppose which means the thread is moot as well.

Indeed. In a fictional existence there are no laws to hold us. :)

It's terrible to live in an undead world. You'll get tired of living finally and yearn for dying.

Yes, but on a island there would have been less people and then i would be easier to clear them out.

Depends on which island you choose.

Japan, for instance, would be a bad choice.

Way too many people/ future zombies and Way too little in the way of natural resources (including food).

Greenland would also be a bad choice. Winter's are harsh; and little food. Not very many zombies; but it would suck to freeze to death.

Yes, but i would use common sense and go to a small, mostly uninhabited island. Common sense is a huge part of surviving.

And that is precisely why most of humanity is doomed.

They lack common sense.
