I was just noticing today that Microsoft has the latest preview beta of IE7 available for download (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx).
It'll only run on Windows XP SP2 or newer, so I couldn't actually run it to check it out (I'm using Win2K) - but I went through the "guided tour" - and it's unbelievable how bad they ripped of Firefox. I mean it looks almost exactly like firefox with an IE logo on it.
Jeeze - takes 'em like five years to catch up to the Mozilla folks, and when they do it it's pretty much just by ripping 'em off.
Anybody else notice this?

that was my impression too when I read the description but I'm afraid we'll really have at least some of the worst features of both browsers...

Does IE7 have a SessionSaver? That is an extremely handy feature that FF has.
FF looks just like Opera
what's your point?
:p

I clicked on an old link in my bookmarks and my Firefox just croaked. I am currently using IE6 with only one window at a time going, totally sucks. :(
Edit: Redownloaded Firefox. It had failed to block some popups and those popups got hung up in the sessionsaver and screwed it up apparently. It seems to be working now though.
what new IE features would make me give up ff?

Well, if it both had all the features of FF, and was able to run the websites made by the moron coders out there who use IE-proprietary code, I might be tempted to switch.
Except, of course, that I can't run it.
I just use that little extention IE view, those are the only times I ever open IE, through FF.

IE? yeah, I want popups and spyware. I wanna spend 80% of my processor cycles running programs designed to violate my privacy! sign me right up!

That's the way I see it too,Feenix-importing some of the superficial features of firefox doesn't change any of that...
I've been running IE 7 Beta 2 for about 3 weeks at the office and I find no pop ups or spyware. The experience has been just as good, if not better than Firefox 1.5.
