Well, let me explain. :) I wasn't actually out in the wilderness, camping in the jungle or anything... but I did get back from a 3 day trip called 'The Wilderness Wandering', up near the north coast, in a beautiful place called Makapala.

It's something this class does every year. We've been studying the old testament (the Pentateuch at the moment), so as we've been learning about the Israelites being in the wilderness after coming out of Egypt, we had our own little wilderness wandering, although ours was for 2 1/2 days, not 40 years. ;)

We thought we'd be going on a hike, and really roughing it, but that was just a guess because they didn't tell us much about it in advance, it was a surprise. It turns out, we went to a ywam base (Makapala) that is very small, but in a beautiful place, and the homebase of 'Island Breeze' which is a Hawaiian singing/performing group that travels all over the world.

We had so much fun! Here's some of the stuff we did... We had to do a skit, and we wanted it to be good cause there was gonna be a prize for the winner and runner up. There were 5 teams, of 5 students each... and they gave each team different passages from the books we've been studying, and we had to do a creative skit of those passages. The skits were SO great and funny!! :D Ours had to do with the Israelites wandering the desert, complaining because they were hungry and thirsty, God giving them manna and quails to eat, Moses getting the 10 commandments, his face shining from seeing God, etc.

Some of the highlights of our skit were:

God (played by a funny 19 year old guy on our team) and Moses doing all their communicating via cell phones... (Moses was played by a girl, cause we didn't have enough guys on our team. She did a fantastic job though, cause she is a singer and she actually put together a song she wrote that turned out SO great, giving our skit a Broadway musical-feel) :p
A fight between the Amalekites and Israelites, from this (http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus%2017:8-13;&version=31;) passage, and the way we did it was kind of like Mortal Kombat... 2 guys were fighting with signs on that said 'Amalekite' and 'Israelite', and Moses had a gameboy remote control in his hands, that he was holding in the air as they fought, and there were 2 of us on either side of him, and whenever Moses' arms would go down, the Israelite would start to lose, and when his arms would go up, the Israelite would be winning... and finally the Israelite defeats the Amalekite. We were gonna have the winner pretend to pull out the heart of the other guy in victory, using a tomato... but we forgot the tomato at the last minute, so we didn't do that. It might've been too gross anyway, but it would've been funny.
Then the 10 commandments scene was Moses up on Mt Sinai, and another girl and I played the part of God's glory, and we had these long colorful flag/streamers things that we ran around with, circling Moses and God on Mt Sinai. Then as Moses came down from the mountain, face shining, we had made this bright yellow mask with a yellow highlighter pen and a paper plate.... and the Israelites put on sunglasses, as they saw him.

It sounds corny, but it turned out pretty good, and there were some great parts. We didn't win, but we got runner up for best actress (the girl who played Moses) and and we got best props. :p Some of the other skits were so, SO funny.... guess you'd have to see them, but they were just really creative and good.

Wow, there's more to tell about the 3 day trip, but this has already turned into a novel. :o

To make it quick, we had fun just hanging out with people in our class, in a different setting, we played some really fun card games... one called Mao that was too fun, and another one called Mafia. The card game Mao is addicting.... on Tuesday a few of us must've played for 4 or 5 hours. There was an optional hike... I didn't go on it, but that's ok, I had a good time doing other things. We also had a lot of good food, and one night we had a campfire, and s'mores, and roasted marshmellows. On our last night, there was a game set up by the staff, and it was like the tv show jeopardy, but it was bible questions (the books we've been studying recently) as well as a few challenges and surprises. We had the same 5 teams as the skits, and it was really fun, but a bit frustrating because if you got a question wrong, you lose the amount of points you went for... and some of the questions were hard. Some of the challenges and surprises were hilarious. We didn't win, but when all the points were added up from the skits and the game, we came in 3rd place (out of 5 teams) :P :)

We drove back today, and on the way back as we were on the highway by the coast, we saw whales! It was so cool, you could see them all the way from the highway, either their tails or their backs and water coming out of their blowholes.

It's 2 am here, so I gotta go, but if you got to the end of this, thanks for reading... and sorry for being so long-winded!

Peace and God bless~

Yeah, I was worried that I wouldn't see you for another 40 years. Though I'm sure you'd still be the perrrtiest ##-year old around. :nice:

Okay, enough flirting. ;)

I made it! Yeah Alan!

And I'm glad nobody got eaten by geckos. :nice:
