View Full Version : Losing my DHCP

The Pseudo X and I are stumped on a new and frequently occuring problem with the DHCP license on my Mac Powerbook. PX recently set up a new NetGear wireless router with the Comcast cable modem. The performance improvement over DHL is quite nice. But for some bizarre reason, every couple of days, the Powerbook loses its DHCP license. The only solution we have found is to turn off the modem, router, and PB - and then restart them in order. Then the PB fetches a new DHCP.

This is very annoying.

Anyone know how to fix this - or is it a feature?

Have you checked the firmware on the apple airport card as well as the netgear? I've found many 'weird' issues when using cards without the latest firmwares, just due to changes in the 'standards'

We've already updated the firmware.

Bummer. You're loosing the lease on the laptop (not the lease on the router from the ISP), right? .... what's the duration set to? (the lease duration on the router). if all's well, call apple ... I can't even begin to trouble shoot them aside from the settings... and defualt on the card should work fine, I imagine.
