View Full Version : Ironweed's thread of unending spam Qtr 1 2006

Why a thread of unending spam?

(a) Why not?

(b) I'm actually feeling like absolute **** lately, a little mindless rambling never hurt anyone. Perhaps it'll cheer me up.

(c) I figure I can make it like the interior dialogue of a bad novel/movie, proving to myself once and for all how utterly vapid my pointless existence is.

(d) 'cuz I feel like it, and doing it here shouldn't irritate anyone.

In truth all of the above. Consider this the 'superfund' of message board threads.

There's a woman in our office who sounds like she literally walked off the set of Fargo. Yet she has never lived outside of New England, and neither did her parents.

Odd, dontcha think?

I have eaten somewhere around 20 miniature Reeses Peanut Butter Cups this AM.

I have drunk in excess of ten cups of black coffee.

And I wonder why I've got the jitters.
:p

Oh, and note on the character from Fargo referenced above. She is not of Scandanavian extraction, though she had blond hair and blue eyes.

Possibly this is a genetic condition?

I need to start recording the books I've read.

I'm trying to remember the title to a stream of consciousness novel, that was all weird snippets of literary trivia as in:

Thomas Mann and Hermann Hesse corresponded for over 50 years, but they never unbent enough to refer to each other other than as Herr Hesse and Herr Mann.

mixed in with the thoughts of someone developing Alzheimers or otherwise losing it. Quite good, and I can't remember the title of the damn thing.

Steven Covey, Mr. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, took over the company that makes Franklin Planners. He took it over sometime in 1995, look at this stock chart.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=FC&t=my&l=off&z=m&q=l&c=

Just about the time he takes over, it goes into the toilet. :D

I s'pose there may have been market conditions to blame, etc. They've actually bounced him from the management of the firm, though he may have a seat on the board. And the company is still called Franklin Covey, so I guess they can't really get rid of him.

But, hmm, where was all his "effectiveness" as a NYSE company went into the toilet? 90%+ of its market cap disappears?

What I found frustrating as hell about his book: All anecdotal. I go looking for objective/outside confirmation to see how Mr. Covey has done. It ain't pretty, folks.

I've got one of his later books from the library. Damn, gotta read it just to see if he owns up to this debacle bearing his name.

I remember reading Jim Morrision's poetry when I was a teenager. Thought it was so ****ing profound.

Found the book a few days ago. Reads like it was written by a pretentious tool. You too can put one sentence of nonsense per page and sound profound...profoundly retarded. Or paranoid, as was the case w/ The Lords.

Still like most of his music, though.

Pretty highbrow for spam...Morrison was a pop figure-with the calibre of literature you've dealt with since no wonder,it's good to see you posting.Dude :nice:

Ironweed
01-24-2006, 02:16 PM
Not really. Morrison's poetry has all the depth of Hallmark Card.

But thanks anyway. Pseudo-profunity is a house speciality. :)

fat mike

Hallmark doesnt deal with those topics but I'm inclined to deal with you-he was writing for teens and 20 year olds...and I'd say you're more than pseudo profound.

A reasonably coherent set of beliefs.

In all honesty, I don't have one, and probably should go about developing one.

Even if I conclude that such a thing is not really possible, I'd be ahead of where I am now, since I think it is, and that it is desirable.

By being honest enough to admit you havent figured it out and you should-youre ahead.I think it's possible to have a bare bones outline-that's all I have-I dont think anyone gets much farther than that...

Needed a home for this. Most emphatically not by me, but amusing in a twisted way nonetheless.

===

VNN is a hotbed of nutters
Whose thinking is stuck in the gutter
It's full of Creators,
(Christianity haters)
Who knows on which side their bread's buttered?

My cowardice sets me a-quiver
For I fear most to look in the mirror
And see staring back
The purple and black
Post-blast face of one Todd van Bibber

A hobo with rabies and mange
Wandered in and began acting strange
This poor unkempt fellow
Called passersby yellow
Then shook a tin cup for spare change

Farewell, TAA newspaper clerk!
Your sales pitch, as ever, berserk
Godspeed, Traitor Glenn
Mighty leader of men
And make sure to write if you get work

The breakdown of VNN was quite funny
Its refugees were inevitably crummy
Glenn Miller came through
To help us 'name the Jew'
For which we'll all send him some freakin money'

it is true that VNN is back online,
a more dedicated breed one won't find
valiantly pecking out screeds against the vile Jew,
hugging their Arab brothers of a dusky hue
finding those crypto Jews under their beds,
embracing brother Miller, witness for the feds

Strange to think of you at VNN...

I post a lot at Fade the Butcher's board. When VNN went down a few weeks ago, a lot of knuckleheads suddenly popped up there. This poem was posted, then got yanked, since they now have a "do not criticize other forums" rule. Or more likely was moved into the moderator lounge, which I don't have access to.

Glenn Miller is stupid and insane, but somehow fails to be interesting or even mildly entertaining. The WNs are welcome to him.

Well you need to work on that, don't you? Il Ragno is a character over there? Are you just saying that to disavow your work or is it true?
I mean it wasn't great poetry but it was good enough to hold my interst and I'm really fussy about that stuff...

Ironweed
02-22-2006, 02:08 PM
The poem is not by me. (Wish I could say it was.)
il ragno is very amusing, and has cobbled together some funny poetry quickly in the past.

If any man is able to convince me and show me that I do not think or act right, I will gladly change; for I seek the truth by which no man was ever injured. But he is injured who abides in his error and ignorance. --Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, Bk. 6

My sister gave birth to her 3rd daughter today. 12:45 PM EST

9 lbs., 10 oz., 21 inches.

First name/middle name = Jacqueline Rose

Had to have an intentional C-section, baby was getting too big.
Due date was technically not until March 19.

The mind reels how big she'd have been if gone to term.

My poor little boy now has five first cousins, all of whom are female. And since it is definitely one and done for us, they'll be no males in his generation. (My sister and sister in law are done, and the world is much better off without either of my wife's brothers breeding.)

Sounds stupid, but I was kind of hoping they'd have a boy this time...not that I'd ever admit that to anyone IRL. My brother-in-law wanted a girl, though, since he wasn't sure how they'd divvy up bedrooms had baby # 3 been a boy.

Ah, well. Can't bitch. My sister's doing fine, the baby's doing fine. That's the important thing. :)

Anyway. Somebody's been having fun with the wiki entry for Mussolini.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benito_Mussolini

Using his charisma, the total control of the his orgasms, he disassembled the existing democratic government system

By age eight, he was banned from his mother's church, and a few years later he was expelled from school, due to stabbing a fellow student in the hand and throwing an ink pot at a teacher. He did, however, receive a big penis in his ass, and he qualified as an elementary schoolmaster in 1901.

The Fascisti formed herpes of proportions that war veterans called squadristi to terrorize anarchists, socialists and communists.

Contrary to a common misconception, Mussolini did not become prime minister of the land of the clitoris. King, Victor Emmanuel III, knew that if he did not choose a government under either the Fascist or Socialist party, Italy would soon be involved in a civil war.

Plus, his birthplace is listed as "Greenville?" SC, maybe?

Wonder how quickly this stuff gets fixed. I don't have an account there, and I'd publish my IP code if pointed it out. Ah, well, hopefully some 8th grader will plagairize via c&p without looking too closely. :p

Sad to say, it looks like what's coming is decidedly inferior.
