Cellphones-All questions-Which to buy,Which phone will work best with what provider,Which phone you are in love with, cellphone rants-battery life sucks, poor reception, poor call quality etc
Discussion of current and evolving cellphone technology-3g etc
Also discussion of cellphone operators-T-Mobile,Sprint,Cingular etc etc etc etc etc-Anything cellphone related belongs in here! :)

Now to start this thread off-What is your favourite cellphone brand/s and network provider.

T-Mobile,Cable and Wireless and Vodaphone are my favourite operators.

Sony Ericsson and Nokia are my favourite brands.

Im on the edge of my seat waiting for Sony Ericsson to release the P990 and the successor to the K750. Im also at the edge of my seat waiting on a my own good phone to arrive as im currently using a Nokia 6210-a phone from the stone ages.-lol

I like CIngular. Been with them back when they were Bell South Mobility. I have a Cingular 2125 WM5 Smartphone I just got like 2 weeks ago. It had Edge, unlimited interenet and all kinds of other neat stuff. Very useful when on the road and in need of Google Local :)

I had Sprint PCS for exactly 12 months. It sucked

I use Nextel at work. Direct connect is great. PHones are ok. Prob would be alot better if they cheap ass city didn't buy us the crappiest phone they make

Don't know much about 3g, except cingular is rolling it out already  Whatever it is

I used to be a big fan of Nokia phones, but they don't make many I like anymore. :( Moto's are ok. My wife's Razr is a great solid phone with long batt life. My v400 sucked

im a verizon guy, through and through. Worth the price premium and their high speed network is amazing. Its saved my ass so many times at job sites...

Phones, I am partial to LG flip phones, but there are some awesome Sony Ericson phones coming out...I love the integration they are getting with MP3, Camera, and phone in one, all decent pacakges.

Currently, I am hardcore Treo user, in the 'smart phone' categroy, I think it knocks blackberries out of the water.

I have a Nokia 6620 using the T-Mobile network.
The phone is sometimes problematic its always flashing messages such as "Application Closed" *rollseyes* *sighs*
Pink Razr here I come.

Manu
01-26-2006, 03:17 PM
Have you seen the gold plated Dolche Gabana (I bet I spelled that wrong) razr? Now, that is hot.

Treptic
01-26-2006, 03:39 PM
You did its Dolce and Gabbana-lol
My friend has one I would never spend that amount of money on a mobile phone and it is lacking in some serious features. I think he paid like 1200 British pounds for it.
Anyway, the price tag is mainly because the phone is supossed to be a status symbol so its users are lucky Motorola even equipped the phone with some semblance of modern features.
Actually all the razrs are lacking in some serious features....I just like the pink and the fact that its less common.
The number of people with silver and black razrs is astonishing.
Oh did you know that they razr was the best selling phone of 2005 worldwide.

Crikey! You people with your fancy phones with cameras and bells and whistles and all that! If I had one of those I'd be a really old lady by the time I figured it all out.

My lil' ol' Siemens A56 is all I need for the perfect aural seduction by that one smouldering voice. *sigh*

(Oh, my - I'm sounding like I'm turning this into a porn thread! *blushes*)

This thread will Have MANY different opinions.. i have found that NO ONE agrees about cell phones.. I started out with verizon and i hated it, customer service, and actual service was aweful, went to Cingular for about a day.. I thought it was impossible to be worse then V.. but Cingular was... Got my money back and went to sprint about 5 years ago. Had very good luck with them ever since. My current Phone is the Sanyo mm9000 Powervision phone. It is an MP3/video player (up to 1 gig memory) and has sirius sat radio, megapixel camera etc... The Talk service is 3g CDMA, and the data service (they claim) is the Fastest cellular data network in the world.. its a EV-DO "powervision" network.. they claim it can hit speeds of 2.5Mbs. It seems very fast.
Im pretty happy with my service.

I can understand about Verizon, if only based on their land line customer service. Ugh.

Never had any problems with Cingular, though. How odd.

GROFF200 my mother knows someone who refuses to by one and has told everyone not to give him one for a gift or else- :-) I kind it quite funny and interesting. That Sanyo phone sounds cool Dr Elusive I especially like the Sirius radio.
No Brakes you sound like my mom but Ive gotten her interested in cellphones she has a camera phone now up from a very basic Nokia...but does she know how to use all the features-lol
Razrs-sure the look nice but...

Cingular and Sony Ericsson, best I've seen.

I've been in the mountains in northern New Mexico in the middle of nowhere and and always had 4 or 5 bars, was able to make many calls from these really isolated places, while every other persons phones were totally dead. I'd put Verizon in second place, they really need to update their phones though.

I'd stay away from Sprint, worst experience with any company in my life.

I like the new SE phones the best, don't think anything here in the states can touch em, and their future phones are going to be amazing. I'm waiting for the same phone Adi is, succesor to the K750, although this phone was never sold by any US carrier, but it works with Cingular. I'm hoping the new one will be sold here so we don't have to go through the UK again. I read somewhere that the new 750 might have the new 16+ million color screen, now if only they'd put in a tv tuner like they do in Asia.

Oh Treptic I had a similiar problem with a Nokia 3650 and shipped it to their major repair centre in Melbourne Fl,the address is 795 West Nasa Boulevard Melbourne Florida 32901, (888)665-4228. Shipped my 3650 and got it back the next day and they paid for return shipping.
Enter *#0000# to bring up the date of manufacture and software edition and then add one year to that date. If after adding one year we have not yet reached that date you will get a free repair-firmware update as its under warranty if not you will have to pay around $50 I think.
Before shipping it you can also try hard resetting the phone by entering
*#7370# backup your contacts etc as this code deletes everything.

I have a Nokia 6102 with Cingular service. Works pretty good for me. Everybody likes the Razr but I think the Motorola Slvr with Itunes would probably be way better than the razr.

http://www.g4mes.net/device_images/Nokia_6102.jpg

and heres the SLVR

Adi
02-26-2006, 08:11 PM
I kind of like the slvr myself have a few L6s,but I dont have the slvr L7 nor have I actually played around with one.
Well I finally got my Sony Ericsson W900 and the thing was too bulky and the phone was just too masculine for my taste. Then on top of it all,it didnt come with a memory card. So I sold it, now I have a W800i with an outdated firmware, so even my previous K750 took better pictures.
Anyway,im enjoying the W800i,ive put a significant number of songs on it already all I really need to do is update the firmware and then I will be good to go....until the end of this week when Sony releases their HIT for 2006 the successor to the K750i.

Two phones that I think are pretty cool is the Motorola V3x razr and the Nokia 6270. I wonder which manufacturer will sell the most phones this year 2006 is going to be a very exciting year for mobile phones.

Adi

Sony Ericsson recently unveiled a week ago today the successor to the very popular K750i. The K800i has 3.2 mp camera, improved interface and a Q-VGA display. Although Samsung has 7 and 9 mp camera phones, many industry experts are toting the K800i (and its 3g/Edge version the K790i) as a mobile phone that is 8-11 months ahead of all competition.
Pretty much Sony Ericsson (SE) used an actual cybershot 3.2 mp camera module into the phone so the phone is also Cybershot branded.

Here are links with articles concerning the phones.

I've been reading about this one, It's so relieving to see that they are finally making an American version of this phone. For once those of us in the U.S. aren't left out while the rest of the world gets better phones.

It will be the first phone sold her in the U.S. that has image stabilization and a real Xenon camera flash, can't wait.

I'm moving, so I'd have to order new phone service, but by getting a cell hone, I was able to keep my same number, and I don't need to order new service, and I'm just going to use the cell as a home phone, but one I can take with me if I need to.

well, just got a new one. I now have the Cingular 8125. It's the same as the HTC Wizard, and some other phones that carriers market as their own. I think Tmobile and Verizon have them too.

This thing is great. Windows Mobile 5, pocket PC versions of Word, IE, Firefox, Opera, everything! It has built in WiFi and I have the MediaNet package from Cingular so it gets EDGE. I was doing speedtest and got 197kbs last night :)

if you want to talk about sturdy phones look at the low end nokias my first cell was a nokia and I'd beat the crap out of it cracked the faceplate several times and replaced it (literally throwing it around) dropped and kicked. the only thing that killed it was a bath in some chemical i work with. I have that one in storage someplace along with my other phones.

That seems rather Slow Actually, I get a Avg. of 240-250kbs on my sprint phone in Normal Vision service areas, And in a Powervision areas i have gotten almost 1mb before (998kbs) Tested using Sprint PCS Sanyo MM9000 and Broadband reports Mobile Speed test....

I would ask cingular what you should be pulling down, especially if you are paying for extra speed..

not sure what you mean by "regular browser", but on the Phone i have a NetFront browser i use, works like a regular browser only smaller, And i *could* cable it to my computer and use it as a modem, but you are supposed to pay extra when you do that.. It will work if you dont, but if sprint finds out they will kill your vision until you pay the extra $10 a month.

I want that N95 soooo bad! I love my SE k750, but that thing is amazing, the video it takes impresses me more than the 5mp camera..

Do you have any idea which carriers here in the states might pick it up? Or do we have to look to Ebay like with other high end phones? What about sim cards? I'd love to just be able to pop my sim in this thing.

I'm guessing it's gonna be 700+ when it comes out though...:(

Adi
01-26-2007, 09:58 PM
Hey Corporate Avenger, yeah the phone is going to be about $700 USD pretty expensive. Think im gonna see if my year's end I can get it, the price would probably bottom out at $550 still expensive but worth it I guess.
I heard Cingular might be carrying it and America should see it by April and Europe by March but the phone's release might be delayed further into the year.

The only way you would be able to pop your sim card in just like that is if you bought it unlocked or sim-free on ebay or from the U.K. for example.

I think its a very good phone but sadly Nokia does not use good marketing strategies. The iphone is going to outsell this phone and the N95 is so much better.

Also Nokia's phones are pricey in comparison to other manufacturers so many people dont even consider Nokia when hunting for phones.

Hey guys here is a tutorial I made on how to let non-smartphone i.e. regular phones that can run java programs read ebooks, i.e. any form of ebooks.

Its been tested and proven by me on the Sony Ericsson W900i, W800i and
K750i as well as the Motorola V3 razr and V600.

Step one download and install the software below which supports file supports : .TXT, .PDF, .ARJ, .HA, .HTML, .HLP, .XLS, .PPT, .DOC, .PDB, .PRC, .RAR, .RTF, .WPD, .ZIP formats.

Tequila Cat Book Reader: http://www.zshare.net/download/tcbr-2-2-8-rar.html

Installation :
- Extract the .RAR file
- After downloading the tcbr software above, download gettext.zip found here http://www.zshare.net/download/gettext-zip.html
- Download gettext.zip and extract to PLUGINS folder, replacing all files.
- Now you can freely convert your ebooks with shell.exe application found in tcbr.

NOW open the shell.exe application to convert your phone and make sure you choose the correct phone model, further settings can be changed in clicking on the help button.

- click add book or open and load your book into the software, large books will take a while to load
- click the build button after the book has loaded
- look and see where the program stored the newly converted jar file for the book (usually in MY DOCUMENTS in the case of Windows OS)
- go to the file and send it to your phone and drop it in the other folder.
- install the ebook you want to read to the applications folder
- Allow the application to read user data
- Select JAR Books/
- Then Select the book

- Every book you convert will become a .jar standalone, which means that you can send it right away to your friend's phone (same type / equivalent with yours), and he/she can read them without having to install any additional application.

After installing your book touch zero when you are viewing the book to go to the menu system of tcbr.

Go to Settings scroll options and uncheck show incomplete line if you want
scroll by page, if you desire scrolling by line etc. settings will tell you how its done.

To increase FONT SIZE select # while just reading the book, you dont need to go into the menu system of the program just touch # when viewing the book.

To change your backlight options select * when reading the book the options are default (the backlight goes off after 30 seconds of not scrolling, ON and OFF.

I will put in screenshots but im pressed for time and have two projects to work on; I will do it soon. Any questions ill answer, please remember I am not perfect and if I made a mistake its natural and ill try and solve mistakes ASAP.

MANY THANKS TO LIVEDEVIL and SHIZAK FOR INTRODUCING THIS TO ME

Bored of talking to myself :(

Who here has java-enabled phones?

I have some really great Java applications eg. Oxford dictionaries, converters, money managers etc.

These can work on Motorola Razrs, slvrs, V-series and SE phones (but not on older models such as T610, Z600 etc)

Should I upload and post, are people interested?

I doubt I could put any of that to use. Not only that, I dont know if that would work. I have an LG VX8300 that I had to "hack" just to circumvent verizon's attempt to disallow mp3 on the phone.

I would like to know how to hack the phone so it plays an mp3 as a ringtone, that would be cherry - or even a way to tap into the phone's GPS capabilities - otherwise im not really interested in auxilary software. Im not really into the whole fad about buying crazy awesome (expensive) phones that can take a picture of itself sucking your cock while emailing it to the person on the other line while you talk to someone else...

Adi

^ lol, okay.....

I could help you out if it were an SE phone since I know/still am learning to hack SE phones to use the mp3 as a ringtone.

I dont know much about LG phones I do know though that if you convert the mp3 file to .amr it should be able to be used as a ringtone. Bear in mind .amr reduces sound quality. Have the blocked .mp4 format because that's on par with mp3.

Well I just started searching and found one tutorial already on how to accomplish a hack on a LG phone but its not your model its the VX6000. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=246000
It may be worth looking into regardless though. Im still looking as I type this.

Here is another but for the VX8500, dont really like this one but just posting it anyway.
http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7817_102-0.html?forumID=74&threadID=240815&messageID=2445989

Also check this out http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=539986

I think its bordering on illegality for these people to block some of these functions on the phones its totally crazy. The operators in some countries know better than to pull crap like this or they would be out of business the next day.
When your contract is up and the phone 100% is yours then what? When you download a ringtone from one of their paid services can you then use the tone or are all mp3s blocked in that manner.

im a verizon guy, through and through.

That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. They run their network on a low frequency band, suck, thier mobile broadband is just as slow as their dsl.

Sprint by FAR has the best wireless network. EVDO. Period, enough said. EVDO Rev A..... faster then a 12mbit cable modem, faster then T1, compareable to a DS3 on your freaking cell phone.

I wont lie though, their cell phones are pretty cool. the RAZR saved their ass.

I personally have a Sprint PPC-6700 and will be buying a PPC-6800 when it comes out. I have had sprint for 9 years. I have had Cricket, Cingular AND Verizon also, and I have never had as shitty service as Cingular, such poor quality calls and network strength as verizon and such limited features as Cricket.

Sprint's plans are amazing since you can piece meal your plan together. $10 for unlimited txt msgs... seriously, no one can beat that.

Sprint actually does have the best wireless netowrk, built digital from teh ground up, unlike digitial to analog to digital like verizon. :/

My Son just gave me his old phone (he calls 4 months old) its a Sony Ericsson W850i whatever that means, I have no idea what to do with it, my eldest child said to me it does this, this, this, and this, any questions, to which I replied, "well.. does it make calls? I find these things a little overwhelming sometimes, my eldest son tried to talk me through it again until I interupted him and asked him to explain it all again in English but give me six months and hopefully I will have it all worked out. :nonono:

New phones I've been using:
Tmobile Dash
Blackberry 8800

The Dash has a lot of the appeal of the moto q, except its on tmobile :) Both run the same version of windows, integrate the same with your exchange server or you can run goodlink on them. I still think Windows Mobile needs to have its dedicated start menu and ok buttons, if not a touch screen. They need to really work on their shortcut keys.

The 8800 is nice. Its really what a smart phone should be. Sleek, thin, shiny, robust. Features wise its basically the same as any other blackberry before, really its just a thin 8700 which ditches the wheel for a pearl. Not sure i like the pearl yet, give me a Treo style 5 way.

Yea, they are on Ebay right now for around 700, although if you get lucky and win an auction without getting into bidding wars you might be able to get one for as low as 550, but that's a long shot.

I think I'm gonna do the same, wait until the end of the year and hopefully by then they'll be down to around 400 on ebay, then I think it will be well worth it considering what it does. I was watching some of the demo's on Ebay of the GPS and it's awesome, I can't imagine sticking my phone on the dash and it turning into a full out GPS system with voice commands, that's awesome..

I think the unlocked ones on Ebay work with T mobile or Cingular, I wonder if any of the carriers will pick it up this year?

I like the Iphone, just not sure about the touch screen only, although I love the good looking large screen it has, but the N95 has a huge screen too in 16 million colors which must look incredible, and it can go onto real internet pages like the iphone, not that compressed and weird cell phone internet crap that most phones get..

Any word on the new Sony 5 megapixel phone coming out???

I've got 3 ericssons in my family and use the most recent app. a data cable helps but i'm sure the bluetooth connection should too as ive used it to transfer pics from phone to phone. make sure that the com detects your bluetooth and make sure that the phone is "visible" for the com.

My W900i has crashed (WSOD) for the second time in what three months I dont have time for this crap. My sim card can only hold 175 contacts and I didnt remember I could back up my contacts to the memory card now the technician is going to try and access the GFS system in an effort to retrieve the contacts, calendar dates, notes etc. but I dont think he will be able to get them.

This means that ive now lost all my new customers numbers, much to my surprize I moved a whole lot of units in the last three months and had gotten many new customers and now I dont have any of their numbers. I really wanted their numbers because I wanted to keep them up to date on price changes new models etc which I due through bulk text messaging.

Im so mad and sad its not funny. I should have written down their numbers in a diary or something. AHHH.

Im soooo pissed I need a reliable phone I cant be going through this shit every second.

Plus I had a lot of data stored in a couple of the applications.

Anyway, im seriously looking at changing my phone now. I cannot continue with this W900i, I would use my P910 again but ive given away basically.

So now im using an old phone with no colour screen or anything :(

When will SE start making reliable phones, im totally fed-up.

Now intially I wasnt paying the Iphone any attention I thought it was just a phone with some mediocre features that would only wow Americans who for the most part arent used to any better as it concerns cellphones

So with all the hype and questions ive been fielding about the Iphone lately I decided to do some research. The phone is no Nokia N95 but it certainly holds its own. I am very impressed with the feature which allows automatic switching between landscape and portrait mode as well as visual voicemail (which im sure is network dependent) also the incredible zooming feature and most of all you dont need a stylus to efficiently operate this phone.

Watch the video to see the demonstration of these features.

Right now it seems like all the phone for now will be locked to AT&T/Cingular and I have no clue as to when unlocking solutions will come out.

The price is a bit steep but im sure this phone will be sold out as soon as its released. I think the phone is a little too long and wonder if Apple intends for this phone to be use outside US and Canada. I think they may extend it to the U.K. based on how they market their Ipod.

Anyway, im looking forward to using one in real life its seems cool, the only thing its missing is symbian in my opinion. Im not sure the Mac OS can achieve what Symbian can in terms of cellphone appropriate features.

Now, (MAYBE) to address minni_the_minx's quandary (albeit 3 months later) or anyone with that problem with getting pics, vids, contacts, and such, transfered. I can send via bluetooth, via multimedia, the phone software with cable..but color me lazy.

***If you have the ability to add memory, other then what the phone has internally..here's an idea:

I purchased a 1gb MMC card (found a great deal) for my phones added memory then purchased the Sandisk MobileMate (see link). All I need do is remove my MMC card and place it into the Mobilemate (USB device), the MobileMate into the USB slot in my PC.... and off I go. Easy back and forth.

http://tinyurl.com/pcwp4

I don't mean to sound like and advertisement :D I found my phone software kooky as hell to use, or I am to flippen' stupid for it. So I went on the hunt to find some kind of adapter for my memory card to use in my multi-card reader on the PC.

*Edit:

I see that minni_the_minx's phone might have Memory Stick PRO Duo, in which case a stands alone card reader for that if it isn't something in your/her PC.

I really like them BUT I cant any good Nokia suppliers so the prices for all Nokia phones are super expensive and I refuse to spend laptop money on a cellphone. So I have the P990i which is just okay in my opinion and the W900i now.

Hoping to get either the regular N95-1 or N95-3, N95 8gb or N82 next year when the prices drop.

The N82 is cheap but not cheap enough for me yet...lol

Hey guys ive gotten the N82.
Its great so far but the build quality sucks in some areas.
Horrible d-pad that allows you to see cables beneath and a gap to the right that allows you to see more phone mechanisms YAY **rolls eyes**

Strong points:

Browsing-superb, feels like real internet browsing, fast
Auto-rotate (like the Iphone)-sluggish sometimes but is really cool
5mp camera with xenon flash-AMAZING

Weak points:
Dim screen
Low speakers
Long. I mean the phone is as long as a P990 and is longer than a W900i when closed. That is not pocket friendly at all and I need to have my phone in my pocket.

Overall a very good mobile for the price!

My friend just got a 16 gig Iphone, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a phone unless I was loaded, but they are incredible, the screen is the bet I've ever seen on a phone, looks like a mini high def TV screen. And the internet is really good, just like you're on a laptop, and the thing is insanely fast, no lag at all like most phones. I'm already wondering what the new Iphone will be like in a few years..:eek3:

Adi
02-21-2008, 12:24 AM
Ill give the Iphone one thing its fun to use and things like customizing the provider logo and name is a plus and the icons are really sweet not to mention the browsing experience.

Basically, apple does a pretty good job marketing its strengths and apple products have a whole luxury appeal to them. Most people think the Iphone is the best phone there is.
I mean all Apple does is increase the internal memory and BAM another craze has erupted. You have to hack and jailbreak the damn thing just to use some of its features. Iphones come with work and even though the work is not that BAD I shouldnt be required to go through all of this to get the most out of a device.

I didnt have any Iphones for awhile due to some unlocking problems and tried to convince people to buy the Nokia N95 instead. Can I tell you I successfully convinced one man to buy a N95. Other people went and got Iphones elsewhere.

Iphones are fun to use and have a certain "ahhh" to them but im not going to buy an Iphone when there is the Nokia N series.

The latest hype is now surrounding the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 personally I dont see what's that great about the device and when it finally comes out at its ridiculously high price im sure much better phones would have already been on the market.

Sony Ericsson the company of announcement but not releases.

Then there are rumors that Sony Ericsson is going to buy Motorola because as Motorola has become strapped for cash. Motorola has said the are considering taking the route of Siemens and producing electronic components only.

All I can say right now its a mobile phone war....the question is who is going to die?

I just got a blackberry curve. It is one of the best smart phones I've ever used. The Blackberry OS is just so so. I am not 100% sold on their 'menu and back' model for navigation. But the speed of the OS. The lack of crashes and sluggishness. The form factor of the phone, it's amazing.

It is only slightly thicker than an iphone, it has wifi, 2.0 megapix camera w/flash, it has bluetooth 2.0, it has micro sd memory expansion. one of the best parts...with the WIFI, you can make calls. No TMO service? hop on wifi, it's pretty amazing.

I make free calls over WIFI as well using truphone on N82. What application do you use to make the calls?

Are you using the Curve 8320? I dont really like Blackberries I dont even consider them to be smartphones. Any smart phone can have BB connect and it is the BB service that sells these devices. Take away the BB service and you have a pretty lousy phone for a high price.

My phone has crashed twice since having it for a little over a week. Im not amused.

One thing I want is the ability to stream divx and avi videos from the phone browser. That would be SWEET.

give it some time without resetting the phone. Every blackberry I have had or had to do tech support for has been a pain in the ass. I'm not exactly sure what the problem with them is but you will discover that eventually it just won't ring and you will miss all calls and text messages and emails unless you happen to be looking at it and it lights up. Blackberries are great, but the biggest piece of advice that I can give is the second you see any wierdness take out the battery and put it back in because it will not solve itself. in the event that taking the battery doesn't work, get ready to ask for a new one from your provider because though a master reset may fix things, it won't last.

I love my iPhone... I've had numerous phones in the past, and a few smart phones. This phone is much better then all of them.

nokia what?

I think my boss ordered me a blackberry (verizon?). Not really fond of them, but if I get my work email while away from work, that would be great :)

Elmo-

My group probably supports 100 blackberries. The 8800s and 8300s are the first ones I've liked. Software version 4.2X is MUCH better than 4.1, and the devices themelves cannot compare to the 8700 and the 7290s.

I mean, come on, I used to use windows mobile on a 2 year old treo over a blackberry for a lot of the issues you explained. But, we've been using / supporting curves and 8800s for about 5 months and they've been way better than previous RIM devices.

I think that my comment was misunderstood as a slam on blackberry/RIM. Not at all. and you are right. and I also support a couple hundred RIM blackberry devices at the company my mom works for. I'm their IT. but even though I have had more problems with windows mobile devices, blackberry's failures although far fewer have caused me the most grief.

Support for blackberries is growing with every advancement that RIM makes. what would make me ditch my motorola Q and buy another blackberry would be native support in the blackberry desktop software for a larger number of email clients and even more so, expansion of the desktop manager to other common apps. Blackberry beats the hell out of any treo ever made. I hated my treo. it worked fine.....for a while. then it was just worthless....and only about 4 months old.

I have a Samsung SCH u740 and it's pretty good so far. I've had it since October with no major problems. I have a slight problem with the design which I didn't realize while researching and buying the phone. It flips slideways for texting, and the buttons for calling and texting are SO SMALL and awkwardly placed while in texting mode. When I had longer nails it was nearly impossible to text accurately. Anyway, other than that, it's a pretty sweet phone.

Does anyone here have a Series 60 device?

Im so pissed that we can no longer sign applications for free.

$200 to sign applications now.

Someone better come up with a way to sign applications with using symbian signed.

Im kinda pissed.

I loaded on most of what I needed already BUT I didnt get a chance to sign Microsoft Quickoffice Premier, Advanced Phone Lock and Garmin XT.

I want that N95 8gb. I've always liked the nokia smartphones but I've never bought one because there was always something cheaper that would do what I needed it to. hence the reason I have my Moto Q.

Dell has the newest version of the N95 8gb i.e. the N95-4 with 3g North American bands for just over $500 I believe. You can also check out the N95-3 which is under $500 from Dell and Tigerdirect. The N95-3 also has the N.A. 3g bands. Or you could wait until the end of summer when their prices will drop further. I agree that Nokia's smartphones are expensive but I think they are worth it. I hadnt owned a Nokia phone since around 2004 and im glad I started using Nokia again. They trample many other manufacturers in several areas. Not to mention the tons of compatible N95 applications, the built in GPS and Wifi. The N95 8gb really should have come with Xenon flash though and I do miss the card slot. If you buy the N95 8gb or N95-3 I guarantee you will love it.

What kind of headset are you using for your cell phone? I'm trying to find a nice one to use in the car, but I've never bought one before. Is Bluetooth really the most reliable headset?

I've been looking at this one: http://www.cellularfactory.com/det.jsp?d=29796&c=24567

I'm just weary to spend all that money though if it's not going to last me a while. Any recommendations? Should I stick with this one?

I read somewhere that if you order it online through your MyVerizon site, you can get a new phone every year...as long as you sign a 2 year extension.

a lot of places do something like that but it's not free. you get a very significant discount on a new phone after your contract is up. if the phone costs more than the discount then you pay the remainder.

JOKE OF THE DAY

A SENIOR computer technician asks me to borrow my data cable to update the software on a N95 8gb. So I lend it to him, get it back and he's like "Kim nothing was wrong with your cable your cable is fine but it recognizes the phone but it wont update its the Chinese version of your phone you know the dual sim N95."

OMG LOL

So im like how could you use the Nokia Software Updater to update a fae Nokia phone not running the symbian software. He starts to grin and shrugs and says "i dunno"

Unbelievable really since he was blowing up my phone for the cable.

I just got my new LG Vu today through AT&T. So far, so good. It didn't come with a manual, but so far, I haven't needed one. It's probably the easiest phone I've pulled out of the box and figured out how to operate without help. I wish it had Gmail as part of it's mobile email system, but I was able to download a free app from them anyway, so it's not too big of a deal. And MUCH better reception than my previous phone. :D
