View Full Version : Found New Hardware Wizard
EricDraven 01-12-2006, 11:40 PM This is what it has been saying for months now. It never goes away, all you can do is press the Finish button at the bottom, and it will just appear again 3 secs later. Until now I have been just hiding the window out of site, but I am fed up, and will start headbutting my computer screen until I figure out WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON!!!
Please help.

This "hardware" wizard you speak of .... is he a nice guy? .... the last wizard I met was a real *******.
.... in your device manager .... do you have anything with a red "x" or a yella "!" over it?
What os are you running .... anything change right before it started appearing ... did you add anything, or update any drivers or anything. .... you must have done something to anger this wizard you speak of.
EricDraven 01-12-2006, 11:53 PM Dude..........I am what you would call......a computer retard
See I am not sure what a device manager, or os, or what updating a driver might be.:hmm:
All I know is I am 3 seconds away from headbutting this wizard in the face............with my face.:|
EricDraven 01-13-2006, 12:02 AM Ok, I found device manager. It has 2 yella ! things on it.
One is for Communications Port (COM4)
And the other which is suspect is in System devices says........Unknown device.
What next??

What's plugged into your pc other then the mouse/keyboard/monitor .... is there anything plugged in that's not working? ... could be an internal card, like a modem or something too...
EricDraven 01-13-2006, 02:56 PM Looks like, the monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, speakers, internet connection.
Any ideas?
Betty 01-13-2006, 03:17 PM That's wierd, does it say anything besides "found new hardware" or "finish"? There's got to be some sort of explaination. I can't blame you for going crazy. That would drive me up the wall.

Cannot Install this Hardware
There was a problem installing this Hardware:
Unknown
An error occurred during the instalation of this device
The class installer has denied the request to install or
Upgrade this device.
Click Finish to close the wizard.
BACK(button not lit up)FINISH CANCEL(button not lit up)
And that's exactly what pops up. Even if you click finish, it pops back up 3 seconds later.
92Notch 01-13-2006, 05:32 PM Are any of the devices USB ... if so, unplug, reboot, see if you get it .... after researching that error, it seems spyware can cause it, in addition to the usb test, download, install, update, and run this program: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5
you can read about the program here: http://www.lavasoft.com/
If all else fails, you should be able to disable the device. I don't know what it could be, but if its not working and you're not missing anything, you don't really need it in the first place. So try to figure out what it is, and take it out, or try to disable the unknown device from your device manager
