Before I post the poem I have to say, I love my little cousins more than anything. They're all very loving, and are more like my siblings that cousins.
I'm debating whether or not to show this to my mom, since I don't show her very many of my poems.....but I'm easily embarrassed, so I'm not sure if I'm going to go through with it yet.
Little girl,
don't grow up
just yet.
Just let me hold you,
and all the time
we can forget.
I hope I never see
the day where
I lose you to
this world.
In the mist
of all this chaos,
you're still the beautiful
little pearl.
I hope that when
you have the decision,
when you have the choice,
you'll speak out loud,
and let the world
hear your voice.
And when you
look into the crowd
I will be there.
I will always be there.
Sweet baby boy,
just be here with me.
I hope that
when you're a man,
you'll still be able to see;
my eyes glistening with tears
the first time you said my name.
After you smiled up at me,
I never was the same.
Eighteen months
can be a very hard age.
You'll get caught up
by your life,
and fall into a
fitful little rage.
But for now
just close your eyes.
I'm strong enough to hold you.
And holding you made me strong,
it helped me pull through.
I love you baby boy,
don't you ever forget.
But I'm not ready for this,
so don't grow up just yet.
Little boy,
you aren't so
little anymore.
You're getting bigger,
you're not longer only four.
Big mr.five year old,
you're still little to me.
Forever my little cousin,
forever a part of me.
You'll have so many conflicts,
you'll be so confused.
You'll feel so tired,
so old and used.
But I will be there,
to give you help
if you need.
I need you,
you need me,
like a knight
needs his noble steed.
I will always be here,
one more thing you
shouldn't forget.
I'm not ready,
so don't grow up
just yet.
Another baby boy,
20 months old.
But you have yet to let
your life unfold.
You're a sick little boy,
so you cling to
Mommy for now.
I want to get closer
to you,
but I'm not quite sure how.
I'll wait patiently,
for you to come to me.
Hopefully someday,
you'll be able to see;
I love you, sweetheart.
And I'm willing to bet,
I'm still not ready,
so don't grow up
just yet.
