View Full Version : Stem cell cloning exposed as fraud

South Korea's disgraced human cloning scientist did not produce any stem cells tailored to individual patients as claimed, a panel has concluded.

A Seoul National University panel said it believed that Hwang Woo-suk never had the data he said he had.

Dr Hwang quit last week after the panel said some research was fabricated.

Correspondents say the finding is important as individually-tailored stem cells were seen as a key to treating diseases like diabetes and Alzheimers.

I wonder how Claude Vorilhon's cloned humanoid is making out. http://www.world-of-smilies.com/html/images/smilies/weihnachten/woswmann52.gif

This is a HUGE deal for Koreans. The general sentiment is a lot of anger and shame. For a while it was a source of a lot of national pride, my brother remarked that it was the only thing for us to hang our hat on since the World Cup.

I wonder how he thought he could get away with it.

That's ironic 'cause I hang my hat on Koreans...they're short enough to make it easy access and all...

Okay, now I'm just invading random threads to toss half-baked jabs at Rice. This has gotta stop.

It's not a Korean thing, it's the fault of this doctor. There are many American "scientists" that are quacks but nobody thinks less of US efforts in science. Korea went from a civil war and bad economy to be a big car/tech maker in a few years and that's not nothing.

The only way they can stay a stem cell/cloning center is to form new procedures to verify all the work. Say a committee checks it and the government passes a law requiring everyone to submit cloning studies. If they had checked this guy wouldn't have been able to go to the media so fast.

Oh, the Korean media is screaming bloody murder about all of this, and how we need exactly what you're talking about.

A bit? That's like saying Hitler was a "bit evil."

How a highly educated and obviously intelligent man thought that this wouldn't be exposed is stupifying.

I thought just part of the results were fudged? Is it all hogwash?

there is zero evidence that the cloning/use of embryonic stem cells have any beneficial effects.

Another media lie, supported by the likes of the illicit-litigator John Edwards.

These are the people representing the dem party...and they are "mainstream/moderates:"

Well, I know it's not zero...and furthermore, not everything is politically motivated....some stuff is done purely for the money.

Attempt at a personal attack? Overlooked because at least if I'm an Albertan, I'm gainfully employed & not sucking from the system...
