On a full moon, in the midnight hour...enter the forest from the north...walk counter clockwise towards the starlight clearing...chant the words to "Stairway to Heaven" backwards and start a small handfull of kindling ablaze. As it starts to grow, feed it with Walmart receipts and McDonalds take-out wrappers. When the fire reaches the height of your knees....
Oh wait....wrong page...

Well, your profile data should be in [drive]:\Documents and Settings\[XP account name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles[alphanumeric gibberish]\

Backup everything in this folder, especially bookmarks.html (in my experience, fixing up the browser settings takes only a few minutes from a fresh install, but if you have a lot of bookmarks, rebuilding the collection can take hours). Then try uninstalling/reinstalling firefox, and copying the profile data back to its original location.

Have you recently upgraded to 1.5, by any chance?

2. Select Start > Run... from the Windows Start menu.
3. Enter firefox.exe -profilemanager and press OK.

then it should be there, if it still exists.
