Ok i realize i just ranted in the whine cellar but this is something else that i have been dealing with for too long now....


Here are the facts of the case.... I like this girl on my floor called Laura, ever since the beginning of the year we've talked extensively, hung out and flirted quite a bit.. The most blatant examples are messages on my door that either glorify her or me...


I admit i've liked this girl for what feels like months however i've done nothing about it... why? Cause first and foremost i didn't have the courage to or the guts then to complicate matters my friends Bryan and Eric both told me (almost at the same time) that they wanted to ask her out. Since that time Bryan is in a relationship with someone else... (who was the one who had the crush on me)...

This leaves Eric, he's known Laura for longer than i have yet i know she is more open with me, i'm reasonably good friends with Eric, he's in my program but i admit the only times i see him are in class... Earlier today i tried to convince him to take Laura out to the dance that is happening in January he said no even after i offered him my ticket...

Bottom line I REALLY like Laura but never told Eric when he told me he wanted to ask her out... So far i've backed off and tried to fight my feelings for Laura... that plan has failed miserably.. I like her more now :( So what should i do? You can vote in the poll or just offer advice whichever you deem better :) Thank you

I'd say tell your boy Eric that you want to ask this girl out. Don't pull a "If you don't ask her out, I will" trick, cuz those suck, but let him know you're interested and don't want to step on his toes if he is as well. I'm guessing, since he turned down your offer about the dance, that he'll say it's alright with him.

Now, that was the nice answer. A typical answer of mine would be more along the lines of "He's wasted his time and hasn't made a move. Get on in there!" Seriously, if you like this girl, and you think she likes you, there's nuthin' to it but to do it. Take the initiative. Ask your friend first if you feel you have to, but make it known you like this girl soon. ^^ Good luck.

I think you should ask her out. Mention to your buddy that you're going to do it and gauge his reaction....then go out and do it!!!

It seems most of us feel the same. You like this girl, this guy isn't taking his chance with her. You can't just pass up something that could potentially make you very happy because your friend might want the option in what could be years. The only thing that I think is MORE important than that issue is the issue of dating a neighbor. My roommate hooked up with someone on the 2nd floor the other day and now whenever he sees him, he feels like he has to dart cuz it didn't work out so well.

thanks for the input you guys, it's much appreciated :) I wish i had tackled this sooner.. i mean it is exam time and on the one hand i'm reluctant to ask someone out while we're both stressed out by exams but on the other i don't want to wait till after the christmas break.... grrr
