View Full Version : Who has the new XBOX360?
mike75 11-28-2005, 07:43 PM I was wondering if anyone here got the new XBOX360 and how they liked it? I didn't get one but I played my friends and I must say, from a guy who has always owned playstation products, the graphics were absolutly stunning and the gameplay was very smooth.
I played some snowboarding game and the sencery was amasing and the game play was very exciting.
Then I played Perfect Dark and the graphics were great but the game left a lot to be desired. Of course the original one did too. The multiplayer really sucked.
I really wanted to play Call of Duty 2 but my buddy left it at college and he said it was far better than any of the other games.
I haven't gotten one, price scared mostly. I dind't get xbox at 299, I waited for 199. I am going to wait for the first (maybe second) major price drop and then get one.
The Frog 11-28-2005, 09:51 PM There have been a lot of reports of 360s overheating and shutting down mid-game, then refusing to boot for a while.

Yea I heard of that too. Its cool though. They came up with a way to prevent that from ever happening again. http://www.santoalt.com/videos/510_Xbox_Pranks.html

Atari was inovative, NES was inovative, the original PS was inovative the XBOX was in semi-inovative...
Now we're just building on stuff thats been around for a while, New game releases lack unique plots, and all around suck.
All these nextgen consoles are gonna blow.
Corporate Avenger 11-30-2005, 03:56 AM I don't have one but one of my friends got his the night they came out last Monday at midnight. Over Thanksgiving weekend we must have played for 25 hours, twice exactly 8 hours of non-stop play, we never had any issues or problems, ran flawlessly.
And I have to say, even with only playing the release games which are far from the best, it is simply AWESOME, 5.1 sound, incredible graphics that run fast as hell with no lag time at all. Nothing beats playing games on a 51" HDTV with a very good surround sound system. On the racing games like Project Gotham you can hear the cars coming up behind, literally behind you, it's a gamers heaven. I was going to wait until maybe next summer or fall to buy the 360, but after playing it, I'm going to get one this winter as soon as they are available on shelves, I simply cannot wait, it's that good. .
Of course the drawbacks to the 360 and of course the same applies to PS3 when it comes out are that you will not get the full experience unless you have an expensive HDTV and a good 5.1 speaker system. But so many people hae those things already these days if you already have the TV and the speakers you gotta get a gaming console like the 360 or PS3.
I have seen a 36-38 something inch HDTV at Circuit City for only $499. And there are some really nice high powered 5.1 speaker systems available in the 300-600 dollar range. I know it's a lot of money, but if you're into and you have the cash I say it's well worth it. Hell I've spent more than that on a couple parts for my engine in my car just to make more power.

McHale 12-01-2005, 06:54 PM I don't know if you guys are even interested, but I saw that they are giving one system away every day this month

Yeah, didn't figure it was ALL of them or there would have been lawsuits, riots in the streets and big big news stories.
I'm betting only a certain manufacturing run that either had a flawed assembly or a set of faulty parts in them are doing this.

Like Nintendos Revolution Controller?
Like Nintendos Revolution Controller?
Argh... I droped a load tis'morning more innovative than that thing.
I don't know 12-15-2005, 01:06 PM I have to decide whether I still like first person shooters, if I do - I'll buy the revolution :l I think beat-em-ups are better with conventional controllers though. Except for with the swords :D
Deciding on a console before all three are on the market is kind of stupid anyway.
Hobo Billy 12-15-2005, 02:54 PM I got one thru my work FREE!!! We do alot of work with Mircosoft and they sent our office 3 of them. I snatched one up quick.
So far the only game I have is Kameo. It's pretty cool. I haven't had alot of time to play it but, so far I am pretty impressed. I like that they have not changed the controls. This really reduces the learning curve for me. I just bought a PS2 slim deal (just to play Dragon Quest VIII) and I am having trouble getting used the the controls. Even though they are close in style the controllers take me awhile to get used to when new.
Like I said I haven't played much but I have not had any issues with the overheating that I have read about. As good as it is so far I might even be willing to deal with a glitch or two. That is because it was free...if I had shelled out the $400 bucks I would be pissed.
