On my way home from work. She was running out in traffic and nobody was stopping to pick her up. She's very sweet. She has a collar but no tags. I'm putting an ad on craigslist now, and then I'm going to take her somewhere to see if she's chipped.

Animal shelters have frakked up hours. The one closest to where I found her is closed today, and the next closest one doesn't open until noon.

I just took her to the vet on the corner, she's chipped, so now just waiting for the owners to call.

Cool. Perfect reason to have your animal chipped. Hopefully, the information is up to date.

Well they should certainly be grateful to you. Good job, BTW.

I wonder if the combination of no call yet plus where you found her means she jumped from a moving car and they were unable to get turned around back to her fast enough.

yay!!! I'm so glad you picked her up! *hugs*

All dogs should be chipped. :) I hope she gets back to her home. If the owners don't want her are you going to keep her? :)

Is she's chipped, I'm pretty sure the owners want her, Em. :p

I would love to chip Buddy, but it's probably expensive. :P

a lot of times people will chip their puppies when they first get them, and after they grow up into dogs the owners decide they don't want them anymore and dump them.:(

I'm not sure about other places but at our hospital chipping costs $45, then the microchip company ("Home Again" is the most widely used) charges a one time fee of $18.

Hopefully her owners still want her. She looks quite thin, I wonder how long she's been running around...

Today, a woman in town found a box of puppies by the road. :(
Luckily they were fine and she took them to the SPCA...she was cool enough to phone the radio station & put a message out that these poor babies needed homes (our station advertises pets waiting for adoption).
I wish I had room for one...they were shepard/husky crosses. They'd be so cute!

She looked thin to me but not bad, she was young, I would guess under a year, and looked like she was going through that late puppy stage where a lot of dogs look skinny. Katie went through that too and I've seen it in a lot of other dogs. I gave her food and she ate a little but didn't seem starving.

I didn't have time to post earlier but the owner called and came to pick her up about an hour after I called the microchip company. Her name is Bailey. Apparently they have a 3-year old that left the front door open :nonono:. They were very happy to have her home.

Good thing she's back home.

I'm sure they gave that kid a good talkin' to.

Good on you for picking her up, Kellet. :nice:

My friend's dog has a tag that reads "If I'm alone, I'm lost."

Oh, poor little tyke, I bet that kid was crying for his puppy. :(
He must be so happy to have her home.
You're so sweet Kellet...:)

She is definitely a very cute dog.

You are awesome to have done something like that - not many people would stop from their 'busy' schedule to do something nice like picking up a stray and finding the owners or a safer place for them.
