ok so here is my life in a nutshell right now.

OK I am bad with money....

alot of my financial troubles right now are due to a time when I was living with a girl who had no job so I had to rob peter to pay paul type of thing. the long and the short of it is I had gotten behind in my student loan....better yet defaulted on it. *sigh*

Well until this job now I have not had the money to pay it and yes I was irresponsible and didn't contact them to arrange payments. I am bad with money. When I get my paycheck and think...hmm give them $200 or use the money for XWZ (which tend to be something fun) I do the fun thing. as I said I am bad with money. or as with the time when living with the girl...Heat or student loan? rent or student loan?

Well I get a call and they are going to have a meeting to garnish my wages...oh joy..but! there is a chance to stop it. if I can pay then the full amount...yeah right..or a smaller amount...only $5k less than the full amount. Or pay a 50% or 33% up front chunk and then an outrageous amount per month for 6 months. in any case I would need to take a loan..did I mention i am not good with money which means bad credit as well...and the loan would then have to be paid along with the monthly loan also. so $500 a month or more depending on the loan. If I let them garnish my wages it is 15% after taxes but before voluntary withdraws (health insurance) once again I repeat..oh joy!

Oh and the best thing is this! they said that if it goes to garnish since this is now a federal thing they may file a civil lawsuit and possibly seek jail time. Now I think this is just a scare tactic but holy ****! if it isn't!

so basically I am going to the bank tomorrow to see that the hell I can do with a loan. My best option is to get the amount for the $5k less than full otherwise I will get killed on interest and monthly payments.

that or hire myself as a male prostitute but I want to get money not lose it. :P

You need an accountant or financial planner. Whats the difference between getting the $5k less and paying the whole amount outright? If you pay off the whole lot at once, you are then only paying off one debt.

They won't let you defer the loan? That's what I did one time with Glen's loan, then I refinance to a lower rate with someone else. :P

I have defaulted on it. supposedly this wednesday they make the decision to garnish my wages and all.

I have an appointment at the bank to meet with someone about a loan. hopefulyl it works out

Oh and the latest update....I was denied for the loans.

So I get to call them back and tell them to go ahead and garnish my wages, actually turns out to be less money per month than the loan. The loan was 15.44% interest :eek:

So lets see how much they will garnish.
