I know nobody cares, but I came in third place, which happens to be last place for this competition. :( I only found out about 2 days before the deadline, plus I did not like the song they chose at all, but just figured I would give it a try.

There should a November contest. I read Hey Jude being discussed as the possible song, but it seems they are still trying to sort out how they do the contests.

I voted for Dampwater as you can tell by clicking the vote totals. The guy who won apparently used a pre-made backing track which makes the thing unfair. The toughest part is setting up the song.

wow..the have "pre-made backing tracks"? do they come with drums? lol.

yeah, the guy who won seemed a bit odd to me..nice guitar work, but something didn't feel right.

i finally got to listen to yours...not sure about all those guitars in it, but you did put together the main themes pretty well :nice:

I will post some of the websites that provide the mp3 backing tracks when I can find them again. A lot of members at UG won't make clear that they are using a backing track when doing a cover song. Actually, there are only a couple bands on there who actually do the whole songs themselves like we do individually here.

well...it's pretty much a different ball game when your dealing with an actual band..they shouldn't count :p

Snouter, i really think you ought to put together a real band and give it a shot..if nothin else just to expose yourself to the real weirdos out there :D
it would be fun! :nice:

One main backing track site has been hacked apparently.

RedLine, at the open mic in September one of my brothers was there and took the mic for the first song we did, The Doors' Roadhouse Blues. He ad libbed most of the lyrics and did pretty well in engaging the audience, but I don't know if he can do anything else besides Jim Morrison styled vocals. :(
