View Full Version : Interesting Note About PS3
Xbox head, J Allard, when asked if he thinks Sony will makea Spring 06 release, he said he doesn't see why not, but there are obstacles they need to overcome...like their design doesn't have any ventilation...for a system that puts out 200w...
I never thought about that.
X360 will be water cooled :|
Dr_EluSivE 10-27-2005, 03:11 PM xbox 360 is too expensive... hopefully sony will come up with cheaper solutions.. I am keeping an eye out for Nintendo Revolution specs... I saw some "leaked" specs a while back that gave the rev more power then Either of its competitors.. i waiting for offical word though..
Dr.
Specs are 'eh.' They end up not meaning all that much. Especially given that there are not BIG lead differences between when these come out, they will all be the same ballpark.
With what Sony is putting on the thing, I don't see how it can be cheaper than 360, unless they bet the farm on it and take a significant loss.
Also, how do you say that the 360 is 'too expensive' when the base level console is the same that Xbox and PS2 were, nearly 5 years ago?

Hmmmm...I think he should worry about his own system. ;)
XBox 360 unstable and crashy after one day
Consoles are typically thought of as entertainment devices, with pretty limited scope. The expectations for consoles are pretty standard, too. You plug in a game, the game works, you have fun. Consoles are becoming more and more advanced though, and though there have been some issues in the past with instability, apparently the Xbox 360 has taken the cake for the most unstable console, only a single day after it's release. In some ways, you could almost say we knew this would happen eventually. Numerous reports of the console crashing have been reported at various other sites, with crashes happening even with all default settings in single player. They don't seem to be related to particular games or particular reasons, happening randomly.

There's already a 52 page thread at the XBox Forums titled "HELP! My XBox 360 stpped working" with people citing everything from overheating, or bad hard drives.....
http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=391764&page=1&pp=15
They're overheating in 15-30 mins so put the a/c on or put em outside to let them cool off..... That's the professional advice??? :eek7:
wallijonn 12-27-2005, 03:51 PM It's now up to over 100 pages.
Maybe it's a good thing that there wasn't enough XB's for everyone.
Me, I think I want to make a ventilated case for the XBox. I'll sell it for $29.99 and make a big mint. It's either that or just take a drill to it and make about 100 holes in the case. I'll make another case just to house the power supply. There'll be a big 120mm fan in it. $29.99. Yeah, that's the ticket.
But don't forget that the PS1, N64 and PS2 all over heated. First thing I did to my PS1 was put two screened 1" ventilation holes in it (one over the power supply.)

100 watts less than an Easy Bake Oven, which does have ventilation. :|
TheAmber 12-28-2005, 02:22 AM I just think people need to NOT buy systems when they first come out, and wait about 6 months.
All the problems the LAST systems had were ironed out within 6 months (as were some of the prices) as were those with the systems before (sans things like Dreamcast which never made it all that far as anything more than a doorstop). I expected problems with the 360 and I expect Sony will have some issues to work out.
I am, however, way excited to see how the gameplay of the PS3 really is.
The Frog 12-28-2005, 12:58 PM PS2 didn't have issues at release time, did it?
I recall Xbox having them, though.

I rememeber PS2 have a couple of issues mainly the "DISK READ ERROR" which could be easily fixed by takeing it apart and cleaing the lazer reading lens with rubbing alcohol. It just gets a little dirty.
I don't know 12-29-2005, 01:11 PM My N64 never overheated, even when playing perfect dark without the required expansion pack. Also: theAmber is right. Waiting is best - especially when you have things like the revolution coming out, which you'll typically have to test out in order to know if it's good or not.

My N64 never had one problem. Hell, I don't even rememeber any N64's having any problems what so ever. Now PS2 and XBOX were different stories.
TheAmber 12-29-2005, 07:20 PM I ended up with one of the PSPs with the screwed up pixellated screens.
But it was free, so WHO CARES!
I am patiently waiting for the PS3 to be released,I cant wait to experience GT3 and Grand Theft Auto on it.
I had a good time playing those two games on my PS2 I swear those are the only two games I need. lol

Well....it's not gonna make those two games look much, if any, better...They were designed for the PS2's hardware capabilities, not the PS3's.
No I meant new versions of the game meant for PS3.
Midnight 02-06-2006, 09:52 PM Well that would be GT5 and GTA ??? ;)
But I completely agree, can't wait!
OhJenMac 02-07-2006, 11:09 AM I will buy the ps3 just to play the new Metal Gear Solid that will be released around the same time.

There would stil be improvement.
I've played our Final Fantasy 9 on our PS2 (it was designed for PS1) and it definitely looks better on the PS2.
