Well, I was watching tonight's cool but slightly predictable (who didn't think something would go wrong after finding the other friendlies? ) episode of Battlestar Galactica - and it had this cliffhanger moment at the end along with the "To be continued..." text...

And I thought to myself "Cool! I can't wait till next week!"

And then I remembered... this was a season finale :eek7:

I mean jeeze - didn't the season just START a couple of months ago or so?

Are they going to be constantly going on a "3 months on, 3 months off" schedule?

Dangit! I want more! The show is too good to be reruns six out of the twelve months a year!

Yeah. It's killing me too.

Speculation: Pegasus will get destroyed in a too-bold attack on the giant cylon ship. Or Starbuck will use the Blackbird to plant a nuke. Or Galactica will ally with the the humano-cylons Six and Boomer to take down the Pegasus.

Someone on a BSG board said that Ensign Ro/Admiral Cain (can't remember the actress's name) got fat since Trek. I couldn't believe they said that. She looks thin to me! But evil. She did a good job makng me not trust her from the first second she appeared.

Michelle Forbes. Yeah, she plays evil good.

Yeah, great ep. Her staff didn't look to thrilled at all over the prospect of facing down another fleet ship.

Thought the season finale was AWESOME!!! The Blackbird opens some unique possibilities. Guess we found out the Tyrol still has feelings for Sharon.

Season 2 was very short, only 10 eps. Season 1 had 13. I thought I read somewhere there were supposed to be 20 in Season 2, maybe they are saving the other half for 3. But yeah, it sucks. I hate waiting for new eps.

When did episode 2 start, and why does it seem like it was so short?

Frak has been used a lot.

They haven't used Feldercarb yet. That was the other one from the old series.

The classic series had this encounter with the Pegasus and Commander Cain. This Cain was played by ... I think his name is Roy Schriever... and he was actually subject to Adama, as Adama was the senior Commander. They showed up in a more creative way in the old series. Galactica was being overwhelmed (barely) by two base stars and their compliment of Raiders. Baltar, who was already with the Cylons, was so confident, he rode third seat in a Raider to go watch the end when one of the Pilot Centurians kept trying to interrupt him, finally saying 'Sir, I just thought you would want to avoid collision with the other battlestar.' at which Baltar panics adn sounds retreat.

That was a two-parter too. That Cain was a show-boater and they parted ways, after one of Cain's scheme backfired and Galactica gained a number of Vipers and pilots, including Cain's daughter.

A number of episodes later they find the wreckage of the Pegasus on a planet.

Mr Frog, a couple of issues: TOS Cmdr Caine was Lloyd Bridges. The Pegasus in TOS was 'presumed' to be destroyed when it was taking on TWO Cylon base stars (Apollo and Starbuck went in with Viper to take out as many of their guns as possible before Pegasus' arrival to even the odds).

Here is a description of the wreckage from BattlestarGalactica.com (Richard Hatches site):

15.) "War of the Gods, Part II" Count Iblis's influence over the entire Colonial fleet--and particularly Sheba--grows as he works miracles, including the delivery of the traitor Baltar to the Council of the Twelve. Adama, Tigh, Apollo and Starbuck seek to uncover the truth about Count Iblis. And the Ships of Light/Beings of Light are revealed -- and coordinates to Earth are given to Sheba, Starbuck and Apollo.

This episode featured the famous "cloven feet" within the wreckage of Iblis's ship. This is what Sheba, Apollo and Starbuck uncover in the wreckage. The props were created, but the footage was never aired. It was known that this crashed spaceship was not the battlestar Pegasus. In fact, Commander Cain and the Pegasus was under consideration to return in the second season, had it taken place.

Thanks! Lloyd Bridges. Dunno how I got the name confused. I could see his face and hear the voice.

As to the fate of the Pegasus, yeah, I know it was presumed lost when they left, I just didn't want to over-complicate the details.

And yeah, Count Iblis whom Aplollo also called Mephistopheles and Diaboles, then shot him a few times, showing that funky negative-image devil form. Then of course Iblis accidentally killed an innocent and got in trouble with the 'funny lights' that were swooping around.

I did not know that they originally meant that to be some other ship that had crashed.

Yeah, fun stuff.

So do I - so I'm trying to spend more time in real science land, been reading some Carl Sagan, biding my time until next season.

The way sci-fi is handling BSG reminds a lot of how they did Farscape, the only other decent show they've ever done IMHO.
Farscape's season was broken down into 3 parts. They would show the first third during the summer when other network shows are on hiatus. Then, they show some more around christmas. And, finally, the end comes somewhere in spring.
I hope they're doing BSG like this. I'd hate to actually have to wait another whole year to see the conclusion.
Speaking of which, I predict that Pegasus will be destroyed by Cylons and Galactica will absorb materials and crew from Pegasus. At the end, Adama will be supreme commander, because the President is about to die and she likes him now that she can compare him against the commander of Pegasus.

I only saw a few eps of Farscape, I caught them on the Dvr because it was recommended - I have no idea what season they were from or anything, but I didn't like it. Maybe if I watched it from the beginning in order.

One thing I was sad about getting cancelled was Odyssey 5. That was on Showtime, I think. I watched them all on On Demand within a few days, then found out it was cancelled in the middle of the season. 5ux0r.

I didn't get to see Farscape, either. But I am REALLY digging Sci-Fi Friday. And them adding Firefly to it made it ten times better.

Odyssey 5...that was a cool show. It is too bad they got cancelled. But, unfortunately, I have to say that the first episode of that series was the best of them all, which probably contributed to their cancellation.
Farscape was really neat, but you have to see it completely from beginning to end to know what's happening.
The thing I really liked about Farscape is that if you see the characters being happy and content with life, then someone is about to die. And, Jim Henson's company did all the effects and props. That fact is what convinced me to even start watching it.

Anyone that hasn't seen Farscape should rent the dvds they're usually at Blockbuster. It was a GREAT show if you like sci fi - it's tongue in cheek doesn't take itself seriously. The sets were expensive to make and that was one reason they couldn't keep doing it. There was so much demand they made a 2 hour movie a year later or so. The star was Ben Browder and he's now on Stargate SG1.

Been watchin' Cosmos?

My damn husband deleted it off the DVR, but we still have the third episode on there, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

I'm reading Billions & Billions, a collection of essays.
