Boy 'pregnant' with twin brother
A seven-year-old boy who was admitted to hospital with stomach pains was actually "pregnant" with his twin brother.

Doctors at Chimkent Children's Hospital in Kazakhstan originally believed Mourat Zhanaidarov was suffering from a cyst.

But during surgery, they discovered he was in fact carrying the dead foetus of his twin brother.

The foetus had developed into a tumour but was found to have hair, nails and bones.

Common phenomenon, the parasictic twin absorbs the other fetus. Years later, or never, depending if the tumor becomes bothersome or grows, it is discovered. It is usually located in the abdomen. The term pregnancy used in this case is misleading & incorrect.
In Stephen King's Dark Half, the cyst resided in the brain of the surviving brother.

The thought of that is still disgusting.

I think it's called fetus papyraceous.

Yeah, this isn't too "light" imo.

Actually, I have no idea where this should go, but ugh. That's just gross.

crass-joke time: gives new meaning to fighting your inner-child though

I'm sorry... :barf:

What came to mind for me was a line from the movie My big fat Greek wedding... when the aunt talked about having a cyst that turned out to be her long lost twin.

I heard about a case like this back in the 1980s, identical but that the person concerned was a man in his thirties in India. In other words, this must be not uncommon! When I told my son about it, it gave him the willies, and it still does! It doesn't scare me, it intrigues me..

In fact, actor Andy Garcia had a parasitic twin growing out of his shoulder at birth as well.

I'm pretty sure I saw the same thing on Ripley's believe it or not, but it was an older man skinny as hell with this huge stomach. I am gonna google it. :nice:

I find it fascinating, not gross. But it should probably go under "Health"

Because the "lighter side" is where "offbeat" stuff is supposed to go, isn't it?

And this certainly is "offbeat," at least from where I'm sitting.
