That's how he starts
"You may remember me. I was the Israeli ambassador to Sweden who was confronted with a so-called art installation in Stockholm in January 2004 that glorified suicide bombing. It was a representation of the suicide bomber who murdered 22 innocent people and maimed dozens more gliding serenely on a pool of blood on a little craft labeled "Snow White."
The "art" showed me there are no limits to the lies told against Israel or the hatred of the Jewish people. I also felt we had given up trying to reverse the terrible decline of our image, especially among European public opinion.
And so I decided to damage the display, and shut down the lights illuminating it. Not a very diplomatic step, perhaps, but one that brought the issue into the open and led to a healthy discussion in Sweden and elsewhere. Israel needs a hasbara offensive. While I was an ambassador, I was stunned to discover that many people in Europe - journalists included - are convinced that in 1948 Israel occupied a sovereign Palestinian state in a classic case of colonialism. The generation that witnessed the rebirth of Israel is gradually disappearing and younger people don't know the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. So when Arab propaganda speaks about "occupation," it sounds easy to understand why Israel is being asked to terminate this anachronistic situation."
May be not prime minister, but the minister of PR.
typical. simply trying to reason it all away in a few sentences, I cant take it very serious.
his actions destroying the artwork only prove how relevant it really was.

 Riiight...and when Dutch anarchists set fire to a McDonald's that only proves how much the world needs McDonald's right?
Erhnam 09-11-2005, 03:12 PM What a psychotic Jew. He sounds like he walked right out of the pages of "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion."
thumper 09-11-2005, 05:18 PM Sweden is a demented country. They are hostile to Jews who have done nothing to them, and also champion the cause of muslims who feed off their welfare, rape their womenfolk, and threaten to blow themselves and their host country up daily. :hmms:
 Riiight...and when Dutch anarchists set fire to a McDonald's that only proves how much the world needs McDonald's right?it would prove how controversial mcdonalds is.

Feiler, a president of the organization Jews for Israeli Palestinian Peace felt that his prominence as a peace activist actually prompted Mazel to attack the work. Feiler once served as a paratrooper in the Israeli Army, and according to some reports refused to serve in the Gaza deployment becoming one of the first Refuseniks and though he has since renigged his Israeli citizenship, his family still resides there: "My family lives in Israel - why should I like suicide bombers? The fact that we try to explain terrorism doesn't mean that we forgive. It feels ridiculous to have to say it, but we condemn suicidal bombings."[9] he said. In a further incident following the Mazel intervention, Jewish activist Dmitri Vasserman placed a picture of Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindh's murderer afloat in the same pool causing Dror Feiler to be outraged once again at the misinterpretation of their work, crumpling the picture and accusing Vasserman of acting dictatorially. In one of his writings, Feiler says "Music, poetry & art that doesn't function like the matador's red rag upsets me."[10] and so it seems that in keeping with this stance, Feiler achieved exactly what he was looking for - namely, himself as matador waving the red rag at the bull. The Israeli Ambassador to Sweden, Zvi Mazel strained diplomatic relations between Israel and Sweden when at the opening to an exhibition at Stockholm's National Antiquities Museum held as part of a conference on genocide, he attacked an artwork he felt to be sympathetic to terrorism against Israelis. The artwork "Snow White and the Madness of Truth" by the Israeli born musician and artist Dror Feiler and his wife Gunilla Sköld Feiler features a boat floating in a pool of red liquid with a photo of the Palestinian suicide bomber Hanadi Jaradat attached to the mast as if "forming the sail of a little toy boat on a pool of blood." [1]. The work gets its title from Bach's Cantata 199, Mein Herze Schwimmt im Blut (My Heart Swims in Blood) which plays along in the museum courtyard where the work is situated. The suicide bomber Jaradat, a 29 year old lawyer - shocked the world when on October 4, 2004, grieving over the death of her brother at the hands of the Israeli army she murdered 21 people and injured 51 others at the Maxim restaurant in the northern Israel beachside town of Haifa by detonating explosives strapped to her body. http://renewal.va.com.au/artcrime/images/snowwhite1.jpg
Ras Bizarre High 09-12-2005, 02:33 AM Its unbelievable what sort of idiotic garbage passes for art these days. What a ridiculous "exhibition". I can't believe people get paid for this stuff. I could eat a blank canvas, drink a gallon of paint and crap a better piece of "art" than that.

Of course it's relevant, the issue of terror whitewashing is very relevant.

Every propalestinian piese of **** will be recognized as a big art...
The issue is not the artistic value but the ugly messedge of "terrorists are clean"
not nessesairily, coral. a sueside bomber sailing on a pool of blood is not really a positive message for terrorism. quite the opposite, Id say.
furthemore, are you aware how many holocaust monuments there are in europe? all big art.

Europeans didn't care how Jews were being treated until Hitler was trying to take over their backyard.
So they shipped the Jews off to some strip of land outside of Europe and now, again, they don't care that someone's trying to destroy them.
Let palestinians start sending their children to European nations as human bombs and we'll see how seriously they take "art" trying to "understand" their motivations.

oh, yeah, remember him ...
how is is psychiatric treatment going ? then let him go out ? :|
johann_moritz 09-13-2005, 08:22 AM I was going to say something about how we should never support terrorism and stuff and an art work dedicated to a terrorist should be destroyed. But it seems that work of art had nothing to do with glorifying terrorism. So I guess Mr. former ambassador's action was the result of some sort of obsessive-compulsive disorder rather than a clear line of reasoning. Maybe the problem of Israel's diplomacy is not as much a problem of PR as it is a problem of PR caused by lacking qualified personal.

You're comparing the holocaust with palestinians being killed for being terrorists? no Im comparing art with art. nothing to do with the holocaust, in this case. just that theres lots of art about jewish subjects and with pro-israeli views in europe.

Oh, thumper, do you really think that means anything? Wikipedia has no credibility!
