Well... FINALLY, i'm appying to take the class I had mentioned (School of Biblical studies) which starts on the 26th of next month, back in Kona Hawaii.

I didn't want to take it there originally, because I already was there for another class, and since this class is offered in many locations, with one price for everything (room/board, tuition, etc) I figured I'd rather take it somewhere other Kona...for a few reasons. (i'm plannning on going back there for another class, and I kinda wanted to take it in a smaller, quieter location) But as it turned out, all the 'doors' seemed to be closed for other places, and it wasn't working out, so.... I feel like i'm being led back to Kona. :)

Of course I haven't got the official 'ok' yet, but last I heard there was still some room in the class, so.... it looks like it's gonna happen. I won't find out for sure for a couple weeks, I haven't even sent in all the paperwork yet.

One sacrifice I have to make is selling my car. So.... anyone want to buy a 2000 black Jetta? :D

This is another leap of faith... because if/when I do come back to California, I won't have a car..... and as i'm sure the Californians here know, it's not easy to be carless here. But I might not be back for a while... (if I go), so I'll just take things one step at a time. The class is 9 months long, and then there's another class that I want to take in Sept 06. (filmmaking class).... so, I might just stay in Kona and live, and work for the time in between.

So, if everything pans out, I might be gone for a year and a half. It should be interesting. :D

If anyone has advice on selling a car.... what websites are good to post an ad on, let me know. Thanks!

Love,
cindy

I'll trade you an over-the-hill 1988 white Escort for it. (just kidding) ;)

The only time I sold a car was to a neighbor, so I'm not much help. But I'll bump this thread anyhoo.

At least you can avoid high gas prices for awhile.

Here's to hoping to see you back in Cali when your classes are done. :nice:

Thanks Alan. Well, I just paid the application fee, so there's no turning back now! :p

I just need to fax the rest of the paperwork in, and then wait for the official ok.

The one thing i'm kinda unsure about it... is that I think in this class there'll be some public speaking... hopefully not to the whole class, but just groups... either way, I hate that! :( But I know I gotta get over that silly phobia.

Yeah, I want you guys to!! Like I said on the other thread, I also have a friend who works for expedia.com, and I might be able to get you guys discount or free activities... although I can't guarantee that until I talk to my friend Brent. If you haven't been to Hawaii, you should see more than Kona, but if you only come to Kona, you'll still have a good time! Just to warn you, when you first get off the plane, it doesn't look very green.... there's a lot of lava rock, it looks like you're on the moon or something. But once you drive to different places, there's some really beautiful parts of the Big Island, and volcanoes, waterfalls, nice beaches, etc.

It'll be kinda wierd to meet DA people in real life though. :D I haven't met anyone yet from this site... (other than people I already knew before DA!)

If I take this class, I'll be super busy... It's supposed to be a really intense class, that requires a lot of reading and study... they told me you have little to no free time. But I'll try to check in to DA occasionally.... what's a verschlugginer? :p

Quick question: would you have to do campus work duties again, or do they only do that for the DTS n00bs? :D

I don't know! I was wondering that myself... and I forgot to ask last time I talked to someone on the phone. I hope I don't have to! Cause I'm going to have to work part-time, to pay for the 3rd part of the class. That'll be hard if I have to do work duty (in addition to working) and also have time to study.

Yay! :w00t: You guys should have a great time. I think I mentioned, I went on a trip to Hawaii with my ex-boyfriend (in my BC days) and it was awesome.

Oh, and I can't do that Dawn, with the car... I need the money. Plus, my parents live in Rosarito Beach, Mexico. I wouldn't want to drive it all the way down there.

fatmike - I learned a new thing today, thanks! :D

Ras - good idea, thanks. :) I know craigslist is good. I don't live in LA anymore though, btw. I'll use the SF/Bay Area craigslist.

Now I've got about 3 weeks to get everything done! You can sell a car on E-Bay, but it will get more local exposure on a street corner

OR a busy street, find a large yard, offer the owner $50 when it sells to let you keep the car there for exposure

Californias loss and Hawaiis gain IMO. Best of luck to you. Kona is a quiet town so it will be quite a change for you I bet. The Big Island is my home away from home and I am sure you will be able to fill most of your free time just exploring, have a blast!

Thanks Jim... i'll put it on a couple websites. I'm not sure I want to leave it out somewhere. Glad to see you back here btw! :D

JAG - that's so nice of you, thanks!! :) I was there for a few months last year, so I know I like it... but I never made it to Hilo or other parts of the island, so during my breaks between the semesters i'll explore and have fun definitely! Thanks again for the kind words! :)

thanks Dawn. and ty for always being supportive, btw. :) I'm happy but like I said before... a little nervous about it, cause I think the class involves public speaking and teaching/speaking to groups... which I don't like. :nonono: Hopefully it won't be as bad as i'm thinking it might be.

Maybe if you stood in front of the class blindfolded with akeyboard in your hand-j/k
you're quite articulate here-yiu're probably just not used to the sound of your own voice.
If you taped yourself reading something and made yourself listen you could learn to like your voice.

Ha! That's sweet of you, fm... I don't think the keyboard thing will work :P but I'll just have to be prepared and pray. :) When I was there before, we had to give our testimonies, and I didn't mind telling it to small groups (they divided our class of 83 people into smaller groups to share our testimony) but one time we had to give our testimony to a larger group... and I SO didn't want to do it. I tried to get out of it, but it was mandatory. But I prayed beforehand, and amazingly it went really well, and it got a big round of applause and afterwards I had a few people in the class come up and say it was an awesome testimony and spoken well... so I thought that was amazing, cause I have a phobia of giving speeches! :D But it does give you a chance to rely on God... which is what I'll have to do.
