View Full Version : Worst. Song. Ever.
Unrepresented 05-06-2002, 12:30 AM I felt the need to post for the world (and especially MrWr0ng) the worst. song. ever.
I claim no involvement in this song, its writing process, or its production despite evidence to the contrary.
The lyrics, subject matter, and vocals have nothing to do with me, the excellent people at Krawdaddy.net or anyone other than this crappy lead singer.
It needed to be heard to be appreciated.

LOL, people? nope .. just me at krawdaddy.net :D
I listened to about 15 seconds of it.. sounded like the guy wasn't signing WITH the music
its just a really bad demo of a pretty bad song. I think that if they get another singer and just professionally record it, it wouldnt be as bad.
:werd:
Snouter 05-06-2002, 10:17 AM What I heard of the lyrics were somewhat amusing. The Ritalin --Prozac theme. But the lyrics didn't go anywhere and didn't seek a resolution other than denial of the underlying problem. (Maybe they did I couldn't understand some of them). ;) The "musicians" need a lot more practice.
If you hired some musicians to redo it, it would probably sound better than some songs I have heard on the radio.
edit: I listened again and the musicianship is actually adequate for that style, it is just that the recording sucks and the guitar in fuzz mode sound like an angry mesquito.
mrWr0ng 05-06-2002, 10:38 AM whoah... man, he must've gotten some lessons cos he's about 10000X better than that. that just sent shudders through my spine, awful. yuck.
Unrepresented 05-06-2002, 01:28 PM My problem with the lyrics are that they weren't intended to be a clever poke at anything, they were basically the extent of the singer's life experience. This was his obsticle he'd overcome. It was intended to be completely sincere. He was clearly upset about his past, but the degree to which he was describing his situation you might've thought he was a holocaust survivor. He's taking something trivial and common (ADD) and trying to make it some life altering affliction.
Plus, in my opinion, in the world of rock music, this theme doesn't work in the form that he's created it in. He's not addressing any of the archetypal song formats. Not that there's anything wrong with breaking rules, but it just feels so very, very wrong to be discussing personal matters concerning educational tracking, psychological bachgrounds, etc. Rock is full of bravado, and to be freely admitting to some of these events does not work IMHO. His intentions are to defend himself from the bad name that he received early on in his academic career. Why? Get over it! Why even admit it? The goal wasn't to protect others, it was to complain about your own treatment and how it was unjustified ("nothing wrong with me at all") in his particular scenario.
I REALLY hate this song. I do NOT like this singer. My small involvement in its creation is also a reason that I'm uncomfortble with it.

Criminal 05-06-2002, 11:12 PM A long long time ago I posted a thread on bad songs of the 70's. I could say any song on that list. All the same if I had to narrow it down to just one song I would say, "Seasons in the Sun" by Terry Jacks. Its an inspiring song about a teenager who kills himself because he has cancer. Listen to the song enough times and you too will wish you were dead.

My mom says the same thing. Me First and the Gimme Gimmes do a cover of this song that I actually like, though. I listened to it with my mom, and she was like 'Holy crap, this version doesn't suck!'
Jastang 05-09-2002, 02:34 PM I can't believe you guys are exaamining it so closely. It just sucks! The bass player is playing some polka rhythm the whole time, the guitar player is just whackin off some power chords, the drummer is trying desperately to keep a beat. And all the time the singer is howling about some wounded racoon or something!!
Arghhh!!! That sucked!!!
RightWingZealot 05-09-2002, 02:37 PM that song RULED

We have to work with what we are dealt. Just for that I am going to do another Jimi tribute jam. ;)

Thanks for noticing the umm... bassist's attempts to undermine any possible credibility the song may have mistakenly received by throwing in bass lines inspired by Atari's Pole Position, and the ummm... guitarist's similarly motivated drive to play crap with the intention of not wasting any worthwhile notes, chords or concepts on a song so utterly doomed to being the crap that it is.
There was rebellion inherent in the crafting of the song. It could've taken itself much more seriously had it not been for the efforts of the ...ummm musicians involved. (and we all know that lead singers are not included in the term "musicians." ever.)

mrWr0ng 05-09-2002, 08:16 PM justin, do you know a singer named eric bateman? he called me last night interested in the lead singer position i put out, i'm not ruling him out since i still have my reservations about scott and the crappy stuff he writes. if he sticks to lyrics and vocals then we could be alright, but this eric guy's got his own rehearsal space and studio, too.
RightWingZealot 05-09-2002, 09:19 PM if he recorded and sang that song justin just posted I would steer clear of him.
;)
AverageJoe 05-09-2002, 09:24 PM the song's pretty damn bad, but i've heard far, far worse. i spent an entire summer listening to shoddy demos at epitaph records, and that sounds like a gold record in comparison, trust me. theyre far from playing together, but at least there's some vague notion of time, which is more than i can say for a lot of other stuff.
karma 05-10-2002, 08:25 PM I can't believe I downloaded that.
jwreck 05-10-2002, 08:33 PM I've heard worse.
