Ok I am watching Ep4 on TBS and am asking myself what has to be one of the best lightsaber battles of Star Wars so far.
I would have to go with Obi-Wan vs. Vader, because of Obi-Wan's sacrafice at the end.

Luke vs. Vader from Return of the Jedi.
for all the reasons Scott listed plus:
Great background music.
Crucial to the remainder of the movie.
Very psychological: Father vs. Son

Yes the fight between Vader and Luke in Ep6 has to be a close second, I escicaly like the line "Sister, so you have a twin sister" I just love the way that Vader says that line.

I went with the Episode 1 fight, because for fight choreography and fighting style, as well as pure athleticism, that one was the best quality. Scenes like Maul knocking ObiWan off the higher level catwalk down three levels, then QuiGon smacking Maul down two levels, ObiWan leaping 10 meters to get back up to them…awesome. Plus that Coup-de-Grace that he pulled in Maul- man. Down in the pit, he has to find QuiGon’s sabre without being able to see it, has to throw himself into the air in a force-assisted boost (after holding on by his fingers, mind you) sail over Maul, pull QuiGon’s sabre to him, catch it while landing, then strike…all in three seconds. That was just unbelievable.
Luke’s fight against Vader in Ep 6 was a close runner up. There was a lot of passion in the fight, and they did more than we had seen either do so far. On a side note here, I watched it on Fox last Thursday, and despite having seen it 2 dozen times before, this is the first time I noted something. After Vader has slam-dunked Palpatine over the railing, the discharge is done, and all is quiet, you see Luke cradling his injured father, he looks at what happened, then to Vader and quietly says ‘Wow’
I’d never noticed he said anything there. I thought it was a neat, quiet statement. He had faith in his father, and his dad came through for him when it counted. His faith was rewarded and he was suitable impressed.
I had to go with Frogs assessment. I think the each fight held its place given the time/story, and thusly I expect even more amazing battles in EP2.
Frog, I didn't catch that, I will need to go home and rewatch. :-)
