View Full Version : If you could go back in time....
SecretSamadhi 08-24-2005, 02:29 PM What time period would it be and why?
I think I'd go back to the Frontier days, to be part of this Country's formation. It also appeals to me to be without material things.... It really took imagination and creativity to make things yourself, and I wish I had more of this ability, but with today's devices I dont' really need to
Can I go back about 10 years so that I can invest in all the good companies?
Terrapin 08-24-2005, 02:36 PM I'd go back to the roaring 20's, I love the clothees and music from that period
SecretSamadhi 08-24-2005, 02:46 PM Can I go back about 10 years so that I can invest in all the good companies?
If you think the 90's were that cool - certainly! :nice:
Nice call Dawn - that's one I'd like to see too. When Men were Men - and courted women.... and times were simpler.
If you think the 90's were that cool - certainly! :nice:
No.... I think the 90's were stupid.
I just want to invest in the big internet compaines when they are getting started... particularly google, amazon, and e-bay.
Then I can retire and not work.
I like my material world.
I don't want to farm or some ****...
Mr. Know It All 08-24-2005, 02:54 PM Go back to the 80's or late 70's and invest in microsoft (I can't remember the exact date). Or at least smack apple's decision makers around.
Tomsk 08-24-2005, 04:10 PM I would go back 2000 years and see if Jesus was real, and if he really was the son of God or not. Maybe I'd visit Mohammed or the Buddha, as well.
I'd also take back Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares and 65DOS CDs and a CD player to someone like Mozart or Beethoven. http://forum.midiaddict.com/images/smiles/icon_twisted.gif http://forum.midiaddict.com/images/smiles/icon_twisted.gif http://forum.midiaddict.com/images/smiles/icon_twisted.gif
Mr. Know It All 08-24-2005, 04:14 PM you forgot skinny puppy
boedicca 08-24-2005, 04:17 PM I don't want to go back to any time prior to the existence of Claritin.
I would love to go into the future when space settlement efforts are taking place.
GROFF200 08-24-2005, 04:40 PM I would like to go back in time 30,000 years and see if people were living in North America. And if so, what they were like.
SecretSamadhi 08-24-2005, 04:46 PM I would like to go back in time 30,000 years and see if people were living in North America. And if so, what they were like.
Me too!!!
boedicca 08-24-2005, 05:00 PM Oh my God - you want to be prey for Sabretooth Tigers?
Mr. Know It All 08-24-2005, 05:07 PM Weren't they around during the late Pleistocene era? So, the later part of 8000-1.8 million years ago. She may or may not miss them.
I would suggest several high powered weapons and a small contigent of body guards.
Edit: I meant epoch not era. Era--> period --> epoch
boedicca 08-24-2005, 05:40 PM There were Sabretooth Tigers in the Americas as late as 10,000 years ago. Life was nasty, brutish, and short for a reason.
Mystlet 08-24-2005, 06:19 PM There were Sabretooth Tigers in the Americas as late as 10,000 years ago. Life was nasty, brutish, and short for a reason.
And no dentists, push-up bras, or chocolate.

CowPunk 08-24-2005, 08:17 PM Let's see all of you do without air conditioning. I'd bet you'd do one summer night without central air, and instantly come scampering home to the 21st century. :nice:

I've only had AC for 3 months. I think I could do without it provided that the environment is close to what I am used to in Denver.

True. However, she stated 30,000 years. *shrugs*
My actual response to the question:
I would like to go back to sometime during my father's early adult life and smack him upside the head. Maybe give his some advice on how not to be a dumbass.
The roaring 20's also sounds fun. I love the clothes and the music from that era. Some other items are not so exciting. Racism for one.

I live in Canada, the hottest it's been this summer is 82 degrees. It's livable. I don't have A/C.
Anytime I could be a pirate :)
eeper69 08-25-2005, 02:03 PM The 70's before I stupidly married anyone...
Baboon 08-25-2005, 02:42 PM I'd love to go back to the early age of man when the enviornment was still relatively free of human development. I'd like to see what the landscape looked like before our cities and infrastructure were built. I always wonder what the land looked like in it's natural state, before smog, pollution, buildings, roads, etc. I suppose I would need maps, a compass, and a GPS so I knew what the heck geographic area I was looking at. I realize it'd be kind of hard to have a fully functioning GPS a few million years in the past, but this is my fantasy so shut up. :p

Since I follow it a little, Google actually IPO'd in 2004. And those CNBC jerks (who are consistantly wrong yet the FCC, SEC and Eliot Spitzer does nothing) said that the stock wouldn't go anywhere. It has since tripled in value.
DWolfman 08-27-2005, 10:24 AM I'd trade all of my tomorrows
for a single yesterday,
Holding ******'s body close to mine...
http://img.epinions.com/images/opti/f1/67/117758-resized200.JPG
And there are certain of those yesterdays
I'd live over and over...and over....
eeper69 08-27-2005, 10:27 AM Hey, I saw a movie last night with Kris Kristofferson..."The Jacket" it's about a mental patient. It was a good movie.
I would like to go back to the beginning and watch the big bang from the sidelines.
Della April 08-28-2005, 02:01 AM I would like to go back to the beginning and watch the big bang from the sidelines.
Where would you go if there was no Universe?
I'd go to 500AD, and check out who King Arthur really was!

I don't know, I don't have a full enough understanding of the universe to answer that question. none of us do .
Bobert 08-28-2005, 04:15 PM I would try to go to everytime. If I had to pick one then I would go back to Einstien's era and see him himself. :D
Criminal 09-05-2005, 02:23 AM I would go back to the time of Christ and meet Jesus. I have some questions I would love to ask him.
JTKirk33 09-30-2005, 03:55 PM 1950's. Tell Elvis to leave that Daludid alone. Tell him to hook up with Jack Lalayne, and to tell the Colonel to piss off.
Katalina 10-01-2005, 02:36 PM I would go back to 1996 of May and spend that last month with my grandfather before he died in June.
beatlebabe 10-01-2005, 02:44 PM The 60's. To be around when the Beatles arrived would be fab :nice:
The 70's would be cool too. Disco, Studio 54.....oh yeah

Nobody has A/C in Seattle - the hot weeks are usually too short to justify the expense. Seriously, I have never been inside a home up here that has A/C. It gets up into the 90's sometimes.
or dentists ...
I've done just fine without dentists so far - but without doctors I wouldn't have lived past age 3, then I would have died again at age 10, again at 21, and maybe even 25.
Dr.Doom 10-01-2005, 10:21 PM Iwould bring machine guns and 20th century waepons to the miedeivl days and rule the land

Me too, pretty much, kellet.
Oh, and take my word for it, beatlebabe, the 1970s stank!
