Defy terrorism, sign the petition to rebuild the WTC as tall as it was before.

If we can't use the internet to sign a relatively meaningless petition to try to force a private corporation to rebuild a reminder that thousands of people died horribly for nothing, then the terrorists have already won.

I think this should be in all threads so everyone can post their opinion.

This should not have been moved. now nobody will see this thread.

I signed the petitions, hope it helps. The land is owned by the NYC harbor authority and leased by some company. Not sure the masses have that much influence either way. Perhaps if we can make them feel they are restoring a national symbol the federal government will influence them.

I feel that building something like the towers at the site would stand as a symbol of defiance to terrorism and as a monument to those who lost their lives in this tragic attack.

I have been to NYC on several occasions and those towers fascinated me each time. I will miss them the next time I'm there.

Why rebuild the buildings that proved to have a faulty design? I"m all for redeveloping the WTC area, but not the twin towers.

i heard something about how they were gonna make the new buildings more heat resistant...

but that was from my grandma...so..who knows...

The Terrorists DID NOT WIN if we don't rebuild the towers as was. Their objective was to erase all of America's diverse religions and have us all convert to the Islamic faith. (To which I say a hearty HECK NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They'd have to kill me and they still wouldn't win over my beliefs.)

I don't think we should make them as tall. That's like an invitation.

Oh, come on, kids! What do you mean "we"? It's an office building! Rebuilding isn't about defiance or rememberance, it's about profit margins. If the company that owns the land doesn't see that they'll make money by rebuilding on that site, they won't do it. That's glorious capitalism for ya.

But, maybe if enough people want it done the feds will offer them all kinds of tax breaks to do it. Oh, wait, they'll probably do that anyway.

I think the World Trade Center should be rebuilt...but even taller! If Osama and his ilk think that it is a symbol of American economic strength, then let's give him something to really piss him off!

I don't think the building had a faulty design. It lasted for quite a while after the planes hit. I don't see how anyone could have expected more. But, it was built using materials and technology which is nearly 30 years old (I realize the building wasnt' that old, but it was in the design stages well before construction began).

I think 120 stories would be just about right this time. Oh, and don't forget to put 300 foot "decorative spires" on it so that no other pretender to the throne could ever claim to have the tallest building in the world (can you tell I'm a bitter Chicagoan?)

Socialism at work: let the loud mouths tell them what where and how to build it. Wasnt this the theme of an Ayn Rand book? :)

i would have to disagree with the idea of them wanting to convert us; they could care less about that. its they find our secularized, world-dominating, capitalist, industrialized, western way of thinking to be a threat, so they want to obliterate us. the twin towers didnt symbolize any religious diversity, just big bucks on an international scale. the fact that they didnt win if we rebuild is false too, because they accomplished their goal, which was to scare the crap out of us. they didnt even really intend for them to collapse in the first place; just to make a big scare. next time theyll just find a different way to scare the crap out of everyone, so big deal.

i signed. they should be rebuilt. they would stand as a rememberance of the lives lost that horrible day, and a symbol of America's battle against terrorism and the hate that drives it.

Sorry to sound cynical, but rebuilding those towers would be like rebuilding a sand-castle on the beach, just to be knocked down by the tides of hate yet again.....:(

I say rebuild them, but make them twice as high, and have anti-aircraft weapons on them.

Rebuild them, but stagger them the opposite of how they were staggerred before so that we can retain the 'light memorial' where the originals were... also, make them the tallest buildings in the world this time.

Three 200+ Story Towers with an internal structure that can withstand twice the damage the crashes delivered, including heat. Make the center one the tallest.
