The Legend Of Uday The Rapist

War Party's Atrocity Porn
by William Norman Grigg
January 24, 2005

The horrific experience of an Iraqi woman Jumana Hanna -- supposedly imprisoned, raped, and tortured for years on the orders of Uday Hussein -- was cited by the Bush administration and its supporters as "reason alone" for the war. But Hanna's story -- like the rest of the administration's case -- was a tissue of fabrications.

The face of Jumana Mikhail Hanna, a 40-year-old Iraqi expatriate who lives in northern California with her mother and children, is an instrument that appears designed for the specific task of conveying anguish. Photographs of Hanna published in the January 2005 issue of Esquire depict her in poses of agony as she visits locations in Iraq where, prior to the U.S. invasion, she was reportedly tortured.

On the strength of her story, and her usefulness in aiding occupation authorities track down Iraqi officials suspected of committing Saddam-era atrocities, Hanna became a heroine in neo-conservative circles. But subsequent developments revealed that Hanna wasn’t a brave witness, but rather a brazen con artist. Hanna’s story was perfectly tailored to the needs of Bush administration propagandists. And her ability to give photographers their desired "money shot" – her body wracked by uncontrollable sobs, her face contorted in unspeakable grief – displayed an ability to simulate emotion worthy of a porn star.

Of course, this pales in comparison of the legend created around George W. that he's a 'christian' and a real college graduate ...

Not that I know of.

However, while this woman might be a con artist, there's plenty of additional evidence that Uday Hussain engaged in behavior just like this all the time.

Where? This woman's story was touted as 'evidence' for a long time.

Yes, and ...? So do many, many other rich guys. Hugh Hefner has had one for decades.

It was aserious question, when I asked if there was real evidence, not just hearsay, or reports from 'embedded media' and Abu Graib employees.

Uh, Hefner didn't have an actual harem of women FORCED to live within a dormitory for no purposes other than serving him - something very much frowned upon by radical Islam for unmarried women.

A former double of his defected to the West, and now says that he observed him conduct many brutal rapes.

So, it's just hearsay.

Given that in most Muslim nations, which have little in the way of equal rights legislation, especially for women, most all sex is forced sex by Western standards, so it's a disengenious claim.

Given the penalty for rape, that's hard to believe.

Sex between married persons might seem compulsory by our standards, but sex between unmarried persons is virtually forbidden.

Besides, what kind of "documentation" do you really want for his rapacity? The best you can get are eyewitness accounts.

I was going to say it's like how Hill and Knowlton fabricated the baby incubator story so people would back the first Gulf war but the article mentions it.

It gets to the point where you don't know what to believe anymore, there were so many lies surrounding this war, it's a wonder why people keep falling for the same crap everytime.

Like it says in the last paragraph..

"All warfare is based on deception, including the crude and ephemeral deceptions embodied in atrocity porn. But war involves subtle deceptions, as well. The subtlest and deadliest is the idea that the state is conducting a war to protect the people from foreign enemies, rather than exploiting foreign conflicts to wage war on the rights and prosperity of the people."

Just tell the sheep they are threatened and they'll let government do anything..

Rape is a crime against the family, not the woman, in countires under Shariah law. Rape is actually a legal punisihment used against women for the cretins.

Sex between married persons might seem compulsory by our standards, but sex between unmarried persons is virtually forbidden.

For women, not men.

Besides, what kind of "documentation" do you really want for his rapacity? The best you can get are eyewitness accounts.

Which is not credible any more these days.

It's like reverted to the late 19th century yellow journalism. Fortunately that era was followed by the Progressive era's investigative reporting. Currently we're in the Lee Atwater era of 'reporting' and political 'news'. Goering and Goebbels would be perfectly at home in the Republican Party.
