View Full Version : My big ol' rock band
RightWingZealot 07-13-2005, 03:57 PM Our cd finaly came out. :)
I posted a link to it in my journal, but it was somewhat spammy.. so if you dont want to see anything remotely spamish.. dont go there. ;)
Im certainly not expecting it to get rich or famous from it, but I am hopeful that it will help us move forward.
I engineered and mixed the whole thing myself.
It came out 'ok' but not as great as I was hoping it would. Im still a novice engineer after all.
Learned a lot.. just gotta try and apply it to the next project and do more better!
CowPunk 07-13-2005, 04:38 PM Hey Jason, congratulations :nice:
Always a very exciting time.
RightWingZealot 07-13-2005, 05:07 PM Thanks man. :)
CowPunk 07-13-2005, 05:48 PM Did you guys have a record release party?
RightWingZealot 07-13-2005, 06:00 PM nah. Im not sure if we will or not.
We arent really so big localy that it would be a huge deal if we did, and the cd is already out in circulation since cornerstone.
Seems kinda strange to have a cd release party after it's already out..
CowPunk 07-13-2005, 06:54 PM I never met anyone that had one BEFORE the CD was released! :D
RightWingZealot 07-13-2005, 07:30 PM I never met anyone that had one BEFORE the CD was released!

Just saw this man.......you shoulda PM'd me......I don't believe I have work, so I am gonna try and gather up a lil crew to rock out with you. :nice: What could I wear to help my chances with Jewels?
That album cover is tight.
The background music is good... though quite honestly the lead singers voice annoys me.
CowPunk 10-11-2005, 07:04 PM Speaking on behalf of people with annoying voices. :nice:
RightWingZealot 10-11-2005, 11:42 PM looks like a cool little venue. Pizza, pizza!
yeah it's a neat place, and the food is awsome! :)
congrats man

Well thanks Dawn, but you dont have to build a shrine. Im stilla nobody in the music biz. :P
I don't believe I have work, so I am gonna try and gather up a lil crew to rock out with you.
That'd be awsome man. :) thanks!
What could I wear to help my chances with Jewels?
Maybe a suit made out of hundred dollar bills?
The background music is good... though quite honestly the lead singers voice annoys me.
Yeah, Julies got one of those voices people either love or they hate. I dig it, but not everybody rides the same bus I suppose. :)
Speaking on behalf of people with annoying voices.
I dont think you voice is annyoing. it's very natural sounding.
Shelter 10-12-2005, 01:27 AM Congratz RWZ. Thats an exciting time man. Hope all goes well for ya. I am plugging away at things myself. Us struggling musicians rock..LOL You ever end up out in the Houston area let me know, Ill show up ta see ya, or yall can come sit in with me and my guys for a bit. :)
Snouter 10-12-2005, 12:14 PM I like the singers voice and a chick that plays guitar well is awesome. The only thing that is a downer is the fact she is married to the bass player. There goes the fantasy element. :(
RWZ, be sure to have someone take pics of the show.
RightWingZealot 10-12-2005, 01:29 PM Yeah I like her voice too. And she is improving it all the time. She's a cool, humble girl who is always trying to make herself a better musician. Both of those guys are awsome. We're like family. :)
She plays a nice guitar too. :)
nice gretsch hollow body 'ala Brian Setzer.
We ususaly record our shows, so we can see them later and see what he need to improve on. I put a couple on DVD. maybe some day I will take a tune or two, and comrpess it to something broadband accessible and put it on our website.
Then you can hear my tempos fluctuate LIVE!
:P
CowPunk 10-12-2005, 01:39 PM Well thanks Dawn, but you dont have to build a shrine. Im stilla nobody in the music biz. :P
Like the man said, you're only nobody if nobody loves ya. :)
Yeah, Julies got one of those voices people either love or they hate. I dig it, but not everybody rides the same bus I suppose. :)
I like it, although the dresses with pants thing takes getting used to.
I dont think you voice is annyoing. it's very natural sounding.
That's a euphemism. :D
RightWingZealot 10-12-2005, 03:20 PM I like it, although the dresses with pants thing takes getting used to.
Yeah, dont ask me about her fashion choices. She sometimes wears old mans bowling pants as well.
Funny though.. I have seen a couple other gals recently wearing dresses or skirts with pants on too. All this time I had thought it was just the Jules was real modest (and she is).. but it seems to be some new fashion "thing".
I am hopelessly lost when it comes to fashion. My last band spent 6 years trying to get me to stop wearing bikers shorts.
That's a euphemism.
Not at all. At least it wasnt intended to be. You just dont really have a 'character' voice like Julie, or people like Perry Ferrel OR Geddy Lee... peoples who's voices seem to be the defining element of a band.. the thing people associate with the band..
Your voice is more mellow and natural sounding, which suits the style of your album nicely.
I think the overall songwriting defines your music, and your voice is just one element in the overall picture.
Sorta like Paul Simon maybe.. not that you sound like him.. but in the same way as you.. his voice is an element of the music rather than the defining character of it.
maybe that didnt make sense.
anyway.. it wasnt intended as an insult
CowPunk 10-12-2005, 03:23 PM I know it wasn't meant as an insult. Thx, Jason. :)

nice explanation on the voice thing RWZ. omparing anyone to Simon cant be taken as anything but a compliment. :) I'm jealous..LOL The stuff sounds great though man. Many congrats yet again on the release. :)
