View Full Version : Rock Star: INXS premiers Mon 7-11 9 est CBS
Somebody 07-08-2005, 03:09 PM This summer, Mark Burnett and CBS present the most ambitious show in the history of unscripted television, "Rock Star:INXS."
Created by the executive producer of "Survivor" and creator of "The Apprentice," Mark Burnett, "Rock Star:INXS" brings 15 of the best undiscovered talents from around the world to Los Angeles for the opportunity of a lifetime: to become the new lead singer of INXS, one of the world's most successful rock bands.
The Australian-based INXS has played over 4,000 live shows, sold over 30 million albums, and had No. 1 hit singles on four different continents before the tragic death of lead singer Michael Hutchence. Now, one talented new artist will become INXS' frontman or woman, record an album with the band and lead its next worldwide tour.
But the unbelievable prize at stake isn't the only thing that makes "Rock Star:INXS" unmissable event TV. As the centerpiece of the competition, the contestants will perform the best rock music in history (including songs by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, ,The Police, R.E.M., The Doors and more), much of which has never been made available to a television show until now. Because all 15 contestants will also be living together in a Hollywood mansion steeped in rock-and-roll history, the human drama infused into the mix may be just as intense as the performances, especially as one competitor is eliminated each week.

I hope the talent scouts are not relying on that clown in their recruitment of the "undiscovered" singers and hopefully their was an intelligently designed audition procedure.

With the exception of some senior citizens who prefer Sinatra, who doesn't like rock?
jwreck 07-12-2005, 10:55 PM anyone rock wouldn't be on a reality show, much less tying to get into inxs. :not:
axoangelq 07-12-2005, 11:11 PM Im almost ashamed to admit it, but my friend Marty is on the show :nonono:
His band the Lovehammers has been offered deals, he wants more than they will offer.
Somebody 07-13-2005, 10:44 AM I don't know anything about rock,
but I like the show.
The artists are real talented.
Snouter 07-13-2005, 05:54 PM Why would they have a mediocre musician and transexual wannabe Dave Navarro as a judge?

cuz he has a hot wife??
granted 07-14-2005, 10:56 AM I guess we have to remember that Carmen Electra was discovered by Prince and she had a thing with Dennis Rodman and so her taste in men is a bit sketchy.
Thats so cool that you know Marty. I actually like this show and think there's some great talent. Currently, Suzie is my favorite.
Mr. Know It All 07-14-2005, 11:03 AM Navaro was cool in janes addiction. Not so much since then.
SecretSamadhi 07-14-2005, 03:36 PM Michael Hutchence must be rolling in his grave right about now..
granted 07-14-2005, 03:48 PM It is a bit of a slam to Michael and the band really should have found a replacement in a more proper way other than selling out to a reality TV show.

I heard a while back on a Boston radio station that they were auditioning new singers, but I didn't think it would be like this :nonono:
granted 07-14-2005, 03:58 PM I'm of the breed that the lead singer IS the band and I never thought a woman could fill the shoes of MH but last evening, Suzie was incredible singing Never Tear Us Apart. If you're an INXS fan you should watch Monday!
Terrapin 07-14-2005, 08:57 PM Michael Hutchence must be rolling in his grave right about now..

Baboon 07-15-2005, 09:05 AM Michael Hutchence must be rolling in his grave right about now..
My wife LOVED Michael Hutchence. She is very pissed they are doing this show.

:stupid:
Sad really...very, very sad.
Jimmy Changa 07-15-2005, 08:44 PM I thought the show was pretty darn fun. Much more entertaining than American Idol. :)
Snouter 08-13-2005, 02:56 PM I just saw some and as expected that main transvestite judge sucks.
A very good looking chick sang a horrible Nirvana song and she made it sound pretty decent relatively speaking. The transvestite judge claimed she didn't sing it with emotion which was wrong because the song has no emotion to emote, but she did provide passion.
A homely chick sang Layla and didn't seem to hit it aggressively.
A lively dude sang a Stones song that the band made undistinguishable. He did not demonstrate a lot of range, but this is INXS we are talking about; a very lightweight, alternative band like a punk version of Duran Duran.
Somebody 08-13-2005, 03:21 PM That transexual is gross.
But that goes with rock. All kinds.
I enjoy watching it but,
I can't figure out what they like or don't like,
for the life of me.
I thought Suzie was great,
but she was in the bottom.
I didn't like the guy with the spike.
They loved him.
I'm no good at judging.
I do like their method.
Wish Idol would use it.
The public picks out the bottom 3,
but doesn't make the final vote.
The judges do.
Wish Idol would do that.
Public pics popularity.
Most don't know talent.
Snouter 08-24-2005, 09:44 PM Some chick tried to do Aerosmith's Dream On and the results were painful to listen to. Steven Tyler is not that good of a singer, a decent professional vocalist should be able to do that song.
The chick MCing the show referred to Proud Mary as Tina Turner's song which is false. The song is by CCR.
The house band's sound sucks. They did The Stones' Start Me Up and withup guitar clarity, it sounded like mush.
They did some INXS songs and it was a reminder that INXS are nowhere as good as the cover songs they did.
The contestants are kissing ass too much. Unless they are sick egomaniacs, I doubt anyone in INXS would want a singer in their band who considers INXS their greatest inspiration. It implies ignorance, stupidity, pandering and presents INXS with the problem that that contestant will not bring anything new and progressive to the band.
They cut the pretty blonde and not that one who messed up Dream On.

That's Jordis. She's got a great voice, but royally messed up that song.
It's a popularity test by the audience.
So it might not necessarily be the best singer.
Who do like the best?
Snouter 09-03-2005, 09:51 PM Who do like the best?
I am not sure if I have seen them all do a song, but the David Bowie lookalike dude, Marty Casey did a nice job with the Pink Floyd song Wish You Were Here. After watching him, he seems to be the most appropriate singer to win the job as singer for INXS. He has the necessary pop appeal for INXS, plus an underground club style that adds a needed dimension.

aww Martys such a great guy too!!!!!
Everyone vote for him!!!
We want him back home though. So on second thought. vote for Mig lol
Somebody 09-04-2005, 12:36 PM I like Mig! He's my favorite.
Like Marty too. But Mig more.
They both suit the band.
I don't like JD. Glad Ty is gone.
He tryed to make it a race thing when he left.
Why? I don't think it was a race thing at all.
Anaïs 09-10-2005, 12:57 AM The remaining contestants are all good but I really don't see a female taking over. Mig has been my recent favorite, but JD really nailed his INXS cover and his original song was great too. He's been really obnoxious the entire show but I think if he grew his hair longer and the band toned him down, he could make it as the INXS frontman. Marty did awesome with Pink's Wish You Were Here. I'd really like to see him break out on his own and I see him going far. I thought I read his band was already doing well, perhaps with this exposure he will find the fame he deserves. Mig seems to be a great fit and has impressed me the entire show. His Australian roots and time already spent in the industry make him a natural with the band. These next few weeks should be good!
Fayebelle 09-10-2005, 01:02 AM Glad Ty is gone.

again it's a popularity contest and aside from old school James Brown and Hendrix how many famous black rockers have u heard from lately?
I <3 Marty for INXS but Jordis is my all out fave I just think she's too good for the band IMHO
Anaïs 09-10-2005, 01:03 AM Lenny Kravitz comes to mind, but you're right Faybelle, they're aren't many.
Fayebelle 09-10-2005, 01:10 AM also that guy that sang Cult of Personality and there are a few actual band members (not frontmen) the point is who votes for these things? not sane adults certainly just preteens who aren't allowed anything fun except their cell phones and internet Hence the gay ass pop queen Suzy still in the finals
Somebody 09-10-2005, 10:45 AM great comments!
Still for Mig here. Love the Australian accent.
He's upfront, but not so much to be upnoxious.
He has a nice easy going personality that the band could mold to their image.
blackranger 09-19-2005, 11:43 PM Im almost ashamed to admit it, but my friend Marty is on the show :nonono:

No kidding!? Marty the Mad Conductor is one of my faves in the show. he's got this rockstar quality, and i think he's going to be the next vocalist of INXS.
axoangelq 09-20-2005, 12:03 AM I know something you don't know!!!
But Im not going to ruin it!!
But I will be at Joes in Chicago with Martys band watching tuesdays show, as usual.
Jessica showed up last week, shes super short. And her band was ok, for doing covers and no originals. I was disappointed.
blackranger 09-20-2005, 10:13 PM oh man, you're killing me... is it about the show?
axoangelq 09-21-2005, 02:28 AM well you know now.
Im excited. hes gonna be home!! well for a little while. Thats part of it. :D
Somebody 09-21-2005, 10:59 AM At the beginning I would have never picked JD to win.
Ii think they liked his raunchy behavior. Playing with himself.
blackranger 09-22-2005, 09:50 PM Wow.. Marty's gonna be their front act in the world tour. I feel a bit sorry for Mig, he was really nice! He can always go back to theater. Anyway, they already have a great music career infront of them...
:nice:
axoangelq 09-23-2005, 12:39 AM Marty and Bob ( bob helped marty start the lovehammers) were at HOB on sunset the night after the show, and Dino , whos in the lovehammers starts laughing his ass off. He got a text from them saying "Mr. Belding is here". They thought it was hilarious to see him.
Very silly boys. They will have so much fun on tour.
