Personally, no matter HOW MUCH one needs the income....through fairly legal means like THIS, even....there's a lot to be said for adhering to SOME standards.... :hmm:

It's a private charity. They get to decide whom they support.

That was my first thought too, when I read the title of the post, but, in reading the article, it was a homeless shelter, not a shelter for battered women, (in which case your assesment would be spot on), but Bo is right as well. It's a private, faith-based charity and they do have the right to make some stipulations on who they will help and under what circumstances.
