GeoDashing is a game in which a computer determines random LAT/LOG coordinates and then people go and visit the "dashpoint" using a GPS reciever and report what it was, what they saw etc. Points are assigned to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd visitors. Persons with the most points wins.
The game sounds 'boring' to those who havent tried it (myself included). Once most people try to find one dashpoint, it becomes addictive. Sometimes you are hopping fences or driving offroad just to get to that dashpoint LOL other times they are in the middle of a parking lot. If you bring someone along for help on hunting a dashpoint they usually end up buying a GPS Reciver and playing on there own ;)
Since the Garmin eTrex is now only about $115 people are joining this game enmass.
There is currently only one Global GeoDashing game being run from http://www.geodashing.org. If anyone is interested in playing, I suggest checking out the GeoDashing link above for a primer, etc.

Bouncing this thread as im curious if anyone else has heard of it.
UPDATE: I have searched out a few GeoDash points and although it can be considered a 'mundane' game since all you do is drive around and navigate when you are bored this can be a very acceptable activity. :)

I think that my Father does something like this. He gets his GPS and goes looking for a spot that he found on some site. He dosent do a "race" or anything I think that its usualy just a tupperware container with something in it, you put something else in it and then check back on the site and report that you have been there. Something like that anyway. He seems to enjoy it. He goes all over NW Missouri and SW Iowa. I think that he has also done it in Florida and Louisiana.
Thats sounds kinda fun. I mean, it sure beats sitting around and BSing. I mean, if im just chilling with friends, but fun to have something to do...

Sometimes you will be surprised were the points show up. Usually for me they are in the middle of farmland around here, and that can be a difficult score since you have to get within 100m of the point.

I'll be honest, I'm not too interested in it.
I'm a couch potato.
