The guitar work and vocal came out especially nice on this one; very clean.

The drum situation was not anywhere near the level of the rest of the performance.

Overall excellent job.

sounds good, redline! you were a little off tempo with the singing in the intro, but then it got better. I like it. have to listen again tomorrow, Im too tired now.

thanks, oki! yeah..your right..i was trying to make the intro fit to the "drum" and bass track i brought in from fruity..kinda messed up the rythm of both of those guitars..don't know if i try to fix it what will happen :(

I thought Join Together would be kind of easy since it is basically just an octave based riff that repeats, but to make it sound somewhat like the original is tough. :(

I copied it from the woodstock version, and its a really simple song, but brilliantly played, even when they make all kinds of mistakes..

there seem to be alot of moog effects in the recording..i think i watched a show once were they performed it live and it was nothing like the vinyl :(

i think you should do my generation..much more Snouterish :D

theres mine, 'see me , feel me'

the vocals sound cool, oki...i would tone the bass down in parts to bring them put.

Good job mang

thanks man! still needs some work, but cool idea :nice:

Excellent job oki!

You even did the da-da-da-da-da....da..da.... da-da-da-da-da thing at the end which is a cool riff. Great song, I remember listening to the original version senior year in high school.

Redline, I am checking to find a version of My Generation.

Thanks RedLine, I got the Live at Leeds version.

oki, is it confirmed that Limewire has no spyware?on personal experience by me, yes. and I think their site mentions it too. nothing like kazaa.

Snouter

Thanks oki, I will check it out.

I am still working on the Live at Leeds verison of My Generation and have the structure down, just have to practice it a few times. It is different than the original in that the key is moved up a step, maybe to make the flow into the next piece they did in that concert smoother; the "See Me, Feel Me/Listening To You" section. I am going to make an attempt at the bass solo. :p

Snouter

In the spirit of the Live at Leeds version I made my version as raw as possible, My version has one track of guitar on one take with no edits, one track of bass on one take with no edits, one track of drums, one track of off key vocals that are not carrying the tune, and two backing vocal tracks that also are not carrying the tune.

cool version, snouter! you definetly got that punky live vibe there.
I kind of did my version of seeme feelme the same way, afte listening to the wooodstock version. the who totally kicked ass live.

Snouter
06-22-2005, 09:53 PM
Thanks oki. On the POD XT Live, I had the pedal set to tweak a "Rez Synth" effect of some kind so instead of wah-wah, there was some weird sounding stuff at the end with the little solo (with the pedal up it was off and with the pedal down it was on - the pedal can be customized to tweak any effect).

RedLine99

My version has one track of guitar

excellant work as usual, Snouter :nice: I personally would have prefered hearing something more like a hummer through a Marshall, but the punk effect comes off well with the powerful bass work.

i don't know if its the same for you and oki, but i've notcied with my setup that if the bass is turned up to high it really drowns out alot. RWZ had a great idea about tuning the the guitar to above 200Mhz, it's been helping me on some stuff.

theres mine, 'see me , feel me'
yours also has a great sounding bass, but i really like what you did with the vocals...i may have to do this one someday :p

people should check out your lalala song...good stuff!

RWZ had a great idea about tuning the the guitar to above 200Mhz

Did I say that?
I dont remember. Heck.. im not even sure how you tune a guitar to above 200mhz.
what does that mean?

RedLine99
06-22-2005, 10:59 PM
er..taking out everything beneath 200Mhz...you might as well just rip out the E string :D

RightWingZealot
06-22-2005, 11:09 PM
oh. you mean hz. not mhz.. i dont think people can even hear that high. :)
and you dont have to roll of EVERYTHING below 200.. but i think 200hz is the low e-string.
so i guess in theory that works.
but in practice I just roll off as much low end on the guitar as I can before it sounds too thin.
it's different every time.

but then again im also a knucklehead who is still learning this stuff. next week i might have a totaly differnet idea. :D

oki
06-23-2005, 06:38 AM
I just take out a lot of lower-mid tones on the bass, sicne thats where the guitar is.

this could possibly be the same thing you ment... :|

yea snouter, the resonance sounds in teh end are cool.
all it missed was that exploding amp in the end. (Im thinking about that clip where they are on a tv show and they smash up the stage in the end.) :)

thanks RL!

Thanks RedLine. :)

oki, I think that was the show in which Pete Townsend had the hearing damaged in one of his ears. Keith Moon packed more explosives in the bass drum than they expected.

i think it might be cool to add another guitar...i'm kinda a freak about that lately :p

oki, I think that was the show in which Pete Townsend had the hearing damaged in one of his ears. Keith Moon packed more explosives in the bass drum than they expected. yea , it ends with a closeup of this girl in the audience who is completely stunned about what just happened...

Thanks RedLine, I got the Live at Leeds version.

oki, is it confirmed that Limewire has no spyware? snouter, last night I downloaded some software, and got an immense amount of spyware....:(
so I guess it isnt as spyware free as I said. but it was the files, not the program itself.

Snouter
07-09-2005, 01:08 AM
Thanks for the heads up. I think I will hold off using that program. I spend about a half hour getting rid of some spyware type crap from Pinnacle Systems which is supposed to be a legit company. I had to go into DOS, rename the file several times, and eventually I was able to delete it.

oki

I suspect that the mp3 police puts infected files on all the main p2p networks, to frustrate the users. or record companies, or anybody that hates p2p... its easy to do.
with limeware, if you want to download a song, you can look at all the downloads of the user that has teh song. I noticed that lost of them dont show their downloads when you ask for them, so now I simply dont download thoise specific songs.that works, uptill now. that , and virusscans for program files.

soulseek is supposed to be really good, at slsknet.org its a closed network, and lots of options to ban out bad users etc. downside is that its not so big , and I didnt like the interface and speed. but its safer.
