View Full Version : Driver's License Question

I just got my new license in the mail. Yay for that, since my old license A) has a photo of me from when I was 15 1/2, and I look nothing like that anymore, and B) had that stupid red bar stating that I was under 21.

So now I have a much nicer photo and no red bar.

Now, a question. Should I put the little sticker on it saying that I'm an organ and tissue donor?

It's really your call, and no one else's.

Personally, I went ahead and became an organ donor. If I'm dead, those organs aren't going to do me a bit of good, but they may save a life, or at least improve one for someone else. I believe that it's a good thing. There are so many who die waiting for organs, I feel that if I can help, I should. You sure can't take em' with you.

The ancient Egyptians might disagree.

Fortunately for you, they're all long dead. :p

If you decide to do so, just make sure those organs stay in good shape (as much as you possibly can anyway - I do realize some things happen that can't be helped) or you won't be able to help anybody!

Me either. I simply thought there was some reason on my end, though.

Thanks for bringing that up, Spaz!

So far, so good. Doesn't hurt to line up a back-up plan with somebody 19 years my junior. :nice:

I didn't do anything to the poll that would make it so that you couldn't vote.

Blame the flood control monkeys, I guess.

my license has a little heart on it that means i am a donor, i also signed the back, and had my mom dad sign as witnesses so everyone understands that i mean to be an organ donor.

I don't know if this is how it works everywhere else, but in PA, even if you have the Organ Donor thing on your license, the hospital where you expire still has to ask your next of kin for permission to take your organs. Put it on if you want, but leaving it off doesn't negate it either.

i think it's like that everywhere, that's why in CT the license has a place for your signature, and you need to have two witnesses, and that's why i made my parents my witnesses so they REALLY understood.

Good call Jen. It's on my license, but I've also made sure my husband knows my wishes. My parents wouldn't know responsibility if it smacked them upside the head.
