SACRAMENTO (AP) - Illegal immigrants in California could get driver's licenses once again under a bill passed by the Senate today.

The measure now goes to the Assembly.

Proponents tied the measure to a new federal law requiring states to verify that people who apply for a driver's license are in the country legally.

Proponents say the bill will encourage illegal immigrants to get driver training and insurance.

Critics say proponents are using the federal law to disguise their effort to give licenses to illegals.

The next step is to hand out OFFICIAL CRIMINAL ID CARDS. That way when a criminal approaches a bank teller with a gun and demands cash, the criminal merely shows the bank teller the OFFICIAL CRIMINAL ID CARD and everything is cool and nobody gets hurt. :rolleyes:

Are these 'proponents' acting because the public of California wants illegal aliens to have drivers licenses, or because of some private reason? Alot of things happen in California because somebodys desperate for attention.
