Now we are going do one song from one of the most interesting groups in music history, Pink Floyd.
I think I am going to do Time from Dark Side of the Moon, or to save time ;) , maybe The Nile Song from More, the first post Syd Barrett album.
RedLine99 06-02-2005, 01:48 AM cool..i'll have to think about it. :p
the finish product of your last one was excellant :nice: i might just wait to hear your first :)
ahh.. I was just getting bored.. perfect timing snouter.
I have to think too.
RightWingZealot 06-02-2005, 06:44 PM hey, finaly one I think i can do!
RightWingZealot 06-02-2005, 06:56 PM if I get a chance im gonna try to do brain damage.
Im doing dogs of war. allmost chose a sid barret song, but they are just too cool to cover.(id ruin it)
RightWingZealot 06-03-2005, 08:19 PM well im not letting that stop me! :D
RedLine99 06-03-2005, 08:56 PM me either :D i'm gonna do thin ice...well at this point
Snouter 06-03-2005, 10:01 PM Thanks for the kind words RedLine. I will try to start one tonight. I am going to look at the Power Tab for Time and then play along with The Nile Song to try to figure it out since I couldn't find any tab on that one yet.
I think one of you guys might go first. I am guessing Justin will do something off The Wall.
Snouter 06-03-2005, 11:28 PM I found a tab of The Nile Song which worked when I tried it. It is a very interesting heavy metal kind of thing in which the chords move up a whole step to build tension and then retreat a half step as a slight tension releaser. This song is suited for "screaming" type vocals; much easier than the singing stuff from Dark Side of the Moon.
THE NILE SONG
Pink Floyd
(R. Waters)
Intro: A G A G A G F#
B...............................A
I was standing by the Nile
B...............................A
Whe I saw the lady smile.
B..............................A.................. . G#
I would take her out for a while, for a while.
C#...........................B
Light tears wept like a child.
C#.....................................B
How her golden hair was blowing wild.
C#.......................................B........ ...A#
Then she spread her wings to fly, for to fly.
D#................................ C#
Soaring high above the breezes,
D#................................. C#
Going always where she pleases.
D#.................................C#......C
She will make it to the island in the sun.
F........................... D#
I will follow in her shadow
F........................... D#
As I watch her from my window.
F............................D#...D
One day I will catch her eye.
Chords during first solo: G F G F G F E
A G A G A G F#
B................................A
She is calling from the deep,
B.................................A
Summoning my soul to endless sleep.
B......................................A.......... .. G#
She is bound to drag me down, drag me down.
Chords during outro solo: C# B C# B C# B A#
D# C# D# C# D# ... (fade out)
RightWingZealot 06-04-2005, 12:00 AM I started mine. Got the drums about 80% done.. figured out how im gonna play all the parts..
Now I just gotta play them and make them not suck. IM taking some liberties.
hope ya'll dont mind.
min is not gonna sound lik th original very much eighter..
RedLine99 06-05-2005, 02:12 AM mine is finished...just cant get frakken yahoo to upload it :(
Snouter 06-05-2005, 04:44 AM Redline, hopefully Yahoo works tomorrow. Is everyone familiar with The Nile Song? I can post the original (at 64 KBPS) if need be.

RedLine99 06-05-2005, 10:58 AM i checked out the original song..good work as usual, Snouter :nice: .overall yours has that pounding club sound to it..brought back a few memories :D sounds like you were using a wahwah on some of the solos or was that just an effect? i think some heavy reverb in the vocals would sound cool.
anyways, here's my mess :p
in the "red alert" folder, thin ice
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/farawaynow
Snouter 06-05-2005, 02:02 PM Thanks. I used the wah pedal on the POD XT Live on one track. I played the verse with the wah up and then when each verse closed, I would gradually step on the pedal. When it was time for solos I went ahead and just stepped on it more.
The Redline Yahoo site is not connecting when I click the Red Alert folder (or any folder on Yahoo).
I am currently leaching off the website of one of my brothers. Maybe all the guitar combat combatants can get dedicated websites going. It is probably pretty cheap nowadays.
RedLine99 06-05-2005, 02:29 PM yeh..frakken yahoo :(
i put it up on soundclick for now until the dang link works. the only thing i used from the original was the baby in the beginning.
don't find many of those laying around anywhere... :D

hey snouter, your banners for guitarmageddon and holdyourheadup have the same pics...you should do a new one for holdyour...the rest of your site looks pretty cool.
great version of teh nile song! I love the voice part, and your wah guitar is exellent. great production overall too.
redline, your voice is perfect for this, could be a little louder though, if you ask me..
allso very cool version. I allmost did that one too, at first , but I didnt remember the name of the track...
the baby I thought that was you :|
Snouter 06-05-2005, 10:29 PM Redline, as oki points out, your vocals do have a Waters/Gilmour vibe to them which fit well with Floyd songs. Nice job with it.
oki, thanks for the kind words. I will redo that webpage sometime.
RedLine99 06-06-2005, 11:50 AM thanks, guys. yeah, oki, the vocals were up a bit higher on the first file i put up..but so was everything else :p ..had to tone it down for that trip wire at the end hehe.
yours sounds cool..almost a step to the darkside for you :D it's in the yahoo folder..if yahoo ever lets us back in :(
RightWingZealot 06-06-2005, 12:20 PM I think I have lost steam. I tried doing the vocal part for the verse and it sucked.
I dont want anyone to hear me suck that bad. even I have SOME staandards. :|
maybe I'll find a different tune if I have time.
Von Apfelstrudel 06-06-2005, 12:24 PM no-one going for atom heart mother suite ? :D
minni_the_minx 06-06-2005, 12:31 PM Comfortably numb is a really good track
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/pigbox_music.htm

Snouter 06-06-2005, 05:59 PM Nice job oki! :nice:
I thought is was going to be Dogs from the Animals album at first. I have to check out the original Dogs of War from A Momentary Lapse Of Reason .
RedLine99 06-07-2005, 12:06 PM oki, what kinda effect did you use to get that guitar sound? i like it :D
oki, what kinda effect did you use to get that guitar sound? i like it :D
HA! :)
yea its a plugin named cortex, which combines 5 guitar/speaker simulations into a new sound, and then another plugin, a voice pitcher. which pitches the sound but not the actual pitch. cool ha? could I claim copyright on that? :hmm:
Snouter 06-07-2005, 11:24 PM In case people think Pink Floyd was just an innovator of "space rock."
When Pink Floyd played an outdoor concert at London's Crystal Palace Bowl in 1970, they played so loud that their music killed most of the fish in the lake in front of the natural amphitheatre's stage.

RightWingZealot 06-08-2005, 01:58 AM thank god for Pinky Floyd. They prove you dont have to be good lookin to make it in rock and roll.
Snouter 06-08-2005, 11:54 AM Unfortunatlely, cool dudes like "Pinky" Floyd are generally ignored by The Machine and retarded dorks, ghetto fags, short-haired geeks, and nerds that make horrible music are what makes it to MTV and the related apparatus that plays the garbage on the radio.
