Don't know what's going on, earlier my screen went into a big blur of colors and my computer froze up. Re-booted it and it went to this blue screen I've never seen before. On the blue screen it said something called dv2dag was preventing my computer from booting, then it automatically went to a screen which said it will only work in safe mode, and here I am.

Is there anything I can do to try to fix this?

Try a cold boot first (unplug the machine for 15 or 20 minutes, then plug it back in), and try again.
You may have lost a shared file of some kind. Did you uninstall anything recently??? Some programs take away things that they shouldn't when they're uninstalled, and the whole system gets messed up. Norton software is notorious for that. They sometimes take something out of your registry that needs to stay.

I just did a google on dv2dag, and it seems to have something to do with a difital camera???! I'm not sure, because most of the returns are in other languages. Do you have digi-cam software installed??? If so, I would start there.

Worst case scenario; you mayhave to save all of your important stuff to disk, and reformat your hard drive. Or, you can get another hard drive, and anything you need from your old one can be accessed through safe mode.
Good luck

You can most likely do a repair of Windows (install it overtop of your current installation) without having to format the drive. Of course this isn't the best way to do things, but it's faster.

Correction: the problem listed is caused by atidvag something, was told I needed to re-install video drivers, did it and it didn't fix the problem at all..

Sometimes I hate computers..

Have you tried a system restore??? That may be your best bet. Give it a try and see what happens.

system restore :nice: You can get to it via the bootup sequence on XP

When you first go into Safe mode the first thing you want to do is look at the error log.

In your case what you have to do is remove the ATI driver and all associated software, along with any overclocking software.

Start -> Programs -> ATI is there an uninstall program you can run?

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs. Remove all ATI programs.

You then want to do a search for ati*.* through the whole disk. Chances are you will have to manually delete all ati* files in c:\windows\system32 . If you see any c:\Program Files\ATI folders, delete them too.

Go into your control panel -> system -> hardware device manager and manually remove the video card.

Start up regedit and do a search for ATI. Delete as many as seem logical. (Hopefully you have regedit experience).

Reboot.

"New Hardware Found" wizard should start...

Wallijonn pretty much covered it. If your system isn't fixed after all that, then you should start backing up your stuff for a wipe and reinstall.

I tried doing a system restore twice, both times it failed.. Don't know what's behind that..

What is regedit and how do I get to it?

Click on "run" on your start menu, and type in REGEDIT. Then hit OK.
If you don't know how to edit your registry, don't fool around with it. If you delete the wrong registry key, you'll be screwed. You may want to get someone who knows how to fix it if you're unsure. Good luck.

One more thing. I don't know how old your computer is, but if it's old, your system restore may have timed out. That happened on one of mine. I was running ME, and the version I had was an old one. I had to go to Microsoft update and get the system restore fix. After that, it worked like a charm.

I don't know know how to do that so I'm not going to play around with it.

It's only about 18 months old, AMD 2500+

I've tried deleting every ati file, some delete, some will not let me delete them for reasons I don't know, and when installing the new drivers there is so much stuff that it asks me to do that I have no clue of, so I am just going to wait to get help. My brother is a computer whiz, if I can ever get him over here he'll probably be able to fix it in 2 minutes and I'll feel stupid.. :p

Thanks anyway for the help people...
