I love Deadwood, I have been watching it since it first came out. It is so addictive, I can't miss a show on Sunday nights. Now with Ms. Garret being pregnant I can't wait to find out what happens with Seths current wife and child.

I'm a new convert, having recently secured the first season on DVD.
Great acting, and no doubt the best portrayal of Calamity Jane ever.
I really enjoy the dialogue, such proper and peppery English coming out of grizzled characters, and who knew the most common epithet of the Old West was co*ksu*ker?
So now I'm under the televised tutelage of Al Swearengen, to help me someday realize my dream of becoming the savvy proprietor of an out-West saloon and brothel: "Pussy's half price for the next 15 minutes!"

God, I love Swerengen...if you can't tell by my current avatar. He reminds me of what my decendants would have looked like. If you read the history, he's English or Irish - not sure which, but he has the total Black Irish look. The dark curly hair, olive skin, blue eyes.... He reminds me of my grandfather combined with my dad....

Robin Weigert is doing amazing work as Calamity Jane, I agree. I am an actor (tress, whatever) and am most impressed by her and Ian McShane right now.

Side note Dream - I met John Hawkes (Sol Star) at the East Coast premiere of the Perfect Storm, he was one of the guys on the ship. He's really nice, and a great character actor - and I love character actors. I'm so happy to see him on a show of this calibur. :nice:

What really sold me on her character, both how it was written and performed, was the scene in which Jane, who was always tough and hard as nails (except when perfectly gazing calf-eyed at her beloved Wild Bill), was completely shaken and rendered submissive by the mere presence of Swearengen, hinting that he reminded her of an early abusive force. Weigert delivers the complexities of this singular persona in a manner which all actors aspire to: seemingly effortless and natural.

Did anyone watch the finale?

I am hypnotized by Swerengen....he's quite the charcater!!!

Poor Alma and Bullock - I can't believe they've have 2 Seasons already - can't wait for the next one!

At least Sopranos will be on to entertain in the meantime... even though I am so mad at that show I'm not even happy for it to be back on...
