View Full Version : Oils well that ends well!!!!!! LemonCookie 03-19-2005, 07:24 AM http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7190109/ Biomass and Methinol FTW!!!!!! Red 03-19-2005, 10:57 AM hopefully this is the beginning of the end for gas guzzling SUVs. Betty 03-19-2005, 11:27 AM Good. Hopefully this is the beggining of the detox we need to kick this addiction. Banana-King 03-19-2005, 11:41 AM Detox will be long and painful. Betty 03-19-2005, 12:36 PM Yep. Monster 03-19-2005, 12:40 PM But needed. The other concern is that the world's freshwater supply will be drained due to overpopulating the planet, so hydroelectricity isn't going to be as feasible for us, either. :hmm: Betty 03-19-2005, 12:50 PM Solar is the future. Home appliances are going to have to become a LOT less power consuming. That goes for TV's, stereos, and computers as well as heating and lighting. Monster 03-19-2005, 12:53 PM Most new fridges and freezers are incredibly power efficient. The problem is that most people don't own new appliances. Betty 03-19-2005, 03:29 PM That's good. The old stuff will probably phase out in time. There's also computers though. Unlike most appliances, computers over the last 10 years have become increasingly power hungry. The first machine I built in '98 ran off a 200W power supply, and that was more than neccesary. Nowadays, a 400W power supply is about average for a system. Today, my main rig pulls about 250VA at idle. But how much power is really neccesary for a house? How much horsepower does a car really require? If people would just invest a little more into sweaters and bicycles... I'm gonna stop now. I'm starting to sound like a smelly hippie. |
