I really like the characters in this Showtime series. I have yet to catch the 2005 season. Anybody else watch it?

I recently watched the first 8 or so episodes. It's ok, sometimes the writing and characters seem a bit too contrived.

Marina and Jenny were hot together, I liked the dynamics of that relationship. I could be wrong but I think I saw in a preview that Jenny and Shane are going to get a place together.

Thats what the critics are saying about the new season.

Is she a lover, a player or a womanizer? Somehow I know you'll get this right.

She's a lover who has been burned in the past so bad that she now fears intimacy.

Did you see the scene where Tina was rejecting Bette after learning of her infidelity, to which Bette responded by basically raping her? Is this sort of forced sex somehow more acceptable for lesbians?

I'm not a lesbian so I'd have to speculate, but it sounds hot given that they had a genuine love relationship. I, however missed that episode, did Tina eventually acquiesce?

She's still pissed, especially after she learned that Bette came to the conclusion that Tina was the only one she wanted...after spending the day in bed with the carpenter.

However wrong it may have been for Bette to try to "screw" Tina into emotional submission, as a man I totally understand that reasoning, and have employed that same tactic, although stopping short of actual rape. Still, it was one VERY HOT scene.

They had been through a lot recently, with Bette's career on the rocks and Tina's miscarriage, both were in a state of life crisis. Tina doesn't seem like the forgiving type. Bette's too hot for her anyhow.

Just watched the first 2 episodes of the 2005 season. I must say the storyline is getting way too hokey.

Too much hokey, not enough pokey?
I think the show needs a strong male presence to surprisingly convert one of them.

Ivan and Marina's husband didn't do it for you?

Ivan and Marina's husband didn't do it for you?

Ivan is a crossdressing lesbian, and if it's Jenny's husband you mean, he left town all limp and dejected. I believe Marina has a high-powered, jet-setting lesbian mistress. No, they need a wild card.

She's way too busy then.
I'm sure glad men don't act like that *cough*.

I've become rather captivated with the new character, Carmen, who first entered the scene as another spontaneous conquest of Shane...

then went on to get a taste of Jenny.

What's also interesting is that the actress, Sarah Shahi, is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader...

AND is another kind of royalty, being the great-granddaughter of Fat'h Ali Shah, a nineteenth-century shah of Iran.

On the show I believe Carmen is supposed to be of Aztec heritage, but in her spread for Maxim, one can more easily discern her Persian features.

Thanks for the Carmen info, somehow I knew you'd find her hot. Personally she does nothing for me. I prefer Marina or Jenny...

and what about this factoid?
Karina Lombard (Marina) is the First Native American to Play a Recurring Lesbian Character on TV...

Marina and Jenny are way hotter together than Carmen and Jenny, imo...

Its the authority factor, I think ;)

Did you know that Karina (Marina) played the damsel in distress/Tom Cruise's seductress on the beach in The Firm? and Brad Pitts wife in Legends of the Fall?
"Karina Lombard has the most diverse ethnic background of any of the The L Word cast members--her maternal grandparents are Lakota Indians from South Dakota and her father is Swiss Russian-Italian--and she speaks English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Born in Tahiti, Karina moved with her father to Barcelona with she was only a year old and subsequently attended a number of private Swiss boarding schools".

Marina's seduction of Jenny is still the hottest coupling of the show.
Carmen has an alluring quality, but she is not my favorite character. Jenny remains the most attractive to me, because she is still exploring, still capable of being seduced. I liked her better with long hair, though. And Shane is still the lesbian I can relate to the most...I like her cavalier attitude. Marina also works for me (as a lesbian role model for a man) when she is dominant, but this is not a constant, as she submits to her sugar mama.

Wow...a Sioux born in Tahiti....I do like that.
Karina also had a very sultry turn in Wide Sargasso Sea, and fleshed-out a barbarian-era role in Kull the Conqueror.
I'm liking Marina more and more, Sadie.

Lesbian pregnancy-sex coupled with night swimming? Surely, not something I could have imagined myself viewing...but I'm sure it happens...somewhere.
